Re: Advice regarding Tagan TG380-U01 recap
I did a whole bunch of Antec Smart and True powers a few years ago.PCBONEZ: Thank you very much for the data. Then it seems I'm back to square one ? Please, what capacitors do you suggest I should use then ? Can I use the panasonic ones to replace the non-low esr ones then ? It's difficult here to see good capacitors (see, I used 2 JACKCON's in this PSU), so I'm probably (I must) have to order them from ebay or from badcaps store.
Antec was 'Fuhjyyu happy' in those models.
.
When it HAD to be a 10mm my preference was to use SamXon RS 10v or 16v 3300uF for all the Fuhjyyu 3300uF & 4700uF final OP caps. Also would sometimes use 3300uF RS for the 2200uF if it was a single cap OP filter. [I might have used FK for the 2200uF but they weren't available in the US then. Still aren't easy to find..]
-
TM is FAR below what should have been used there.
I think the people that order parts for the manufacturers of cheap PSUs think TM and TN are the same but they aren't even close.
[Poor QA. - Engineers should check what the 'ordering people' order.]
If you use TM specs as the minimum specs to replace the TN you will be okay.
I think something like TM grade was the intention of the design Engineers before the bean counters cheaped it down by ordering TN.
[Yeah, that speculation but TN is even sub-standard compared to ultra crappy PSUs that don't happen to use Fuhjyyu.]
.
If you can fit 12.5mm caps then you have a lot more options.
.
Chemicon KY is easy to find and not too uncommon in better PSU brands. KY is between FK and FC for specs.

Re: Advice regarding Tagan TG380-U01 recap
Pardon my ignorance, but is it normal for the PSU to make noises while it's operating ?
This PSU makes noise while it operates, I'm not talking about fan noises, or high pitched sounds... it sounds like... a clock ticking very fast. It changes the speed depending on how much load the PSU has (for example, it's different when the PC is idling, but changes when it's at full load). Hope that made sense. Would a recording of the sound be useful ?Last edited by unmei220; 04-27-2011, 07:49 PM.Comment

Re: Advice regarding Tagan TG380-U01 recap
EA-500D Green has 22 amps on each +12v rail.
~~~~~~~~
Radeon HD 4850 TDP is 114 watts and if we assume a mediocre regulator efficiency of 75% that's 152 watts at the PSU.
If it all pulls off +12v that's 12.7 amps.
HHD's are roughly 1 amp /@ on +12v and a burner up to about 2 amps so that's another +5 amps.
Lets say maybe 3 amps for CPU+System fans...
.... So you're up to around 20.7 amps on the non-CPU +12v rail.
If you are sporting a RAID card that could be tapping a few more amps and I've seen some newer mobos that power RAM [except in standby] from +12v with a VRM dedicated to RAM.
If you have all of that on one rail you just might be over the 22 amps, especially while drives are spinning up.
~~~~~~~~~
TDP on a i5-750 is 95 watts so [w/VRM effiecency] it's probably about 127 watts [10.6 amps]
~~~~~~~~~
Try the system with no hard drives connected.
If PSU stays on, then do some rewiring and move the HDDs to the other rail.
[Either that or get a more conservative video card....]
On the few occasions I've had one do that I just tossed it so I have no idea what the cause is.
- Some of the PSU gurus here probably have a few ideas though.
by Ady2017Hi all. I need to replace an SMD fuse on my camcorder and this is the first time I have had to do any SMD soldering so your advice would be appreciated. Below is a picture of the board that I am working on and I have highlighted the fuse that needs to be replaced. I managed to zoom in to take this picture but the fuse is really tiny and is sandwiched between other components so this is going to be a new milestone for me. I appreciate that I am going to have to buy a new soldering iron if you could advice on what I need please. I was thinking about putting a big soldering iron across the whole...1 Photo
by momakaHere’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.
So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:
by momakaI've been seeing a lot of cheap-looking (but not always so cheap) no-name AGP video cards on eBay for a while. They started popping up quite a bit when the market for AGP cards became more alive all of a sudden due to interest in “retro” PCs. One thing that struck me about these cheapo cards is that they almost always seem to come with garbage caps - including the abominable Sacon FZ. That aside, though, I've been wondering about the rest of the quality (or lack of?) on these cards. So I decided to satisfy my curiosity yet again.
This one was actually suggested to me by ChaosLegionnaire.... -
by bqlHi Badcaps,
I'm having the same Notebook and problem as in this topic:
I'm assuming that flashing the provided bios in this topic would solve my problem.HTML Code:https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubleshooting-hardware-devices-and-electronics-theory/troubleshooting-laptops-tablets-and-mobile-devices/bios-requests-only/3601016-need-bios-for-clevo-pd50pnp
The only thing i can boot to is EFI shell
How do i flash the bios image in the EFI shell ? / Can i use any flash.nsh or is the executable interconnected to the bios image? ( i cannot find any bios related files in the internet...-
by laskr1999Hello!
I have got a DFI Lanparty NF3 250GB motherboard, that have all of the capacitors failed, board still working.
I have read, that I need to match ESR, Capacitance, Voltage to have a quality recap, but with ESR im in a problem. 0.012 ohm is what i see on the vrm caps specs, but lowest I could find is 0.018 and up, usually 0.04. Can someone help me find good replacements?
I'm located in EU, and I have found a guy here on the forums who listed the caps, so here are they:
- 20 x Nichicon 1000uF 6.3v HM 105C
- 5 x Chemi-con KZG 1000uF 10V
- 1 x Chemi-con KZG...-
