I just checked the ups website with the tracking number. It arrived in Clarksville this morning at 5:30, and went out for delivery at 7:30 this morning. So BOLO (be on look out) for UPS trucks!

Little boys (and older men) just love to get outside and play in the snow. So went over to Staples and put your psu's in the UPS station. Should arrive Wednesday afternoon...unless slowed down by snow.

i have one on the way, due to an issue requiring moderaor intervention, the annocement got ommited.

everell is sending me this power supply:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12683
which I will recap. if for whatever reason it does not work, I will go with the 400w delta from hypermicro.com (antec is overpriced junk compared to the delta).

$45 shipped. $30 after rebate. I've never had a problem with antec rebates. 5 sata and 4 molex connectors on it.

i was wondering where that model went... if the blue box doesn't work for whatever reason, that will be plan B (this main rig will be a much quieter rig than the one the acbel went into.

Delta DPS400RB. Cheaper than what you're looking at and much better:
    http://www.hypermicro.com/ProductDes...LY-BULK&key=it

370forlife recommended it to me about a year back. It's running my main rig and it's just a nice quiet no-BS PSU that gets the job done. Plenty of SATA connectors, a PCI-E connector, 120mm temperature controlled fan. It runs cool, quiet, and is very stable (what else would you expect from Delta?).

EDIT: My bad, didn't see that you found one already. The DPS-400RB is still a great deal though. IMO it might almost be better than the AcBel (quieter and has more SATA connectors).

Just ran a quick check on it.

5vsb no load measures 5.15 volts

12 volt (molex) with 12 ohm 2 amp load measures 12.31 volts

12 volt (4 pin cpu) with 12 ohm 2 amp load measures 12.32 volts

5 volt with 2.5 ohm 2 amp load measures 5.17 volts

3.3 volt with 1.65 ohms 2 amp load measures 3.40 volts

Both fans never turned a twitch

That is only a 40 watt load for a 600 watt power supply, but at least it indicates a good starting point.

Color coding is one reason. I think that color coding is important. With no color coding, was this psu wired to standard ATX configuration? At first I thought some novice was using speaker cable for reasons unknown on a home project - yet the job looks too nice to be one of those screwed up jobs. I just wasn't sure about the wiring, and didn't really have a good reason to fix it up. I have too many projects as it is! So PM me a mailing address and I will work on finding a box and shipping it to you next week.

Since you live in New Albany, I might mention that I went to electronics tech school for two years at United Electronics Institute in Shively, just south of you on the Kentucky side.

how so? everything PSU i have seen has 3.3v running to the sata.

why are you being so pushy? can we establish that if i do retrofit there will be a 3.3v line? Bickering over pointless crap and putting my thread on page #2 does nothing but poach my thread.

What drive manufacturer would deliberately manufacture drives that won't work in ~millions~ of currently in use PCs.

    Lets see...
They could reduce cost by like $2 a drive
    - and reduce potential buyers by maybe 75%
    - and get a bad reputation for not working in all systems.
    All in one fell swoop!
What a marketing plan! - Woo Hoo!

my concern is if they start ommiting the converter to save $ or pcb space. besides, i am powering cd drives as well... the goal would be 4-5 sata plugs (2 dvd-drives, 2 hard drives, 1 ls120 (berg)). woth blue ray drives, since they all are SATA only, they have no reason not to omit the converter.

Currenty HDD manufacturers don't rely on 3.3v power being there and use a 5v to 3.3v converter on the PCB.
I don't see them changing that plan unless having no 5v becomes mandatory in some new standard.
    It didn't happen with SATA3 [6g/s].

then why in the hell did they even invent the SATA connector in the first place?

either way, I'd rather do things the right way than half ass it. that isn't how i do business.

    The 3.3v is currently optional.
It will become -required- [if it ever does] by way of a new Standard.
A new Standard means new interface chips [which aren't invented yet] will be required.

    ?

how so? it is sata 3gb/s compatible.

as for the $40 one, i saw that... i could not tell from the picture if it was the correct mount. it looked more like what i see in hp evo boxes... not quite standard atx mounts. it is narrower but taller. they do that to squeeze in a 90mm fan. looks like atx but in reality it will not fit without doing an extensive, difficult, and for my current case, impossible mod. and no, I am not going to butcher a case over a power supply. call me a wimp, but i have common sense.

the $30 one i saw too... but the grainy picture quality (from a cell phone) made me unsure... the model no. in the tile does not match the one in the description. the title says DPS-400WT, but the description says DPS-400RB. I have no idea if the first no. is any good... sounds like they don't know what they are talking about.

By the time you have drives that -require- the 3.3v your current SATA interface won't be adequate to run the drives anyway.

GIGABYTE X299 AORUS ULTRA GAMING - SATA PORTS 4-7 NOT WORKING ???
    by DynaxSC
    Hi,

I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.

However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA...

Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.

After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)

Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)

Before this had happened I observed some other problems:

Pegatron M2N78-LA (rev. 3.02) freezes on POST with SATA drives attached
    by momaka
Like the title says, I have a Pegatron M2N78-LA (HP P/N: 513430-002) motherboard out of an HP Pavilion PC. The motherboard hard-locks during POST when it gets to the part of trying to detect the SATA devices *only* if there is a SATA device (be it HDD or optical drive) connected to any of the SATA ports. I cannot enter BIOS or do anything when this occurs. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del cannot restart the system either. In fact, the keyboard locks up too (Num Lock status LED cannot be toggled anymore.). However, if I disconnect everything from the motherboard's SATA ports, the motherboard can POST successfully...

psu sata power wires thinner - does it make a difference ?
    by playit
hello , i have a psu 450 zebronics (yes its bad crap) which used to work before with its own sata power cable ,but today its not able to power up harddrive efficiently with its own power sata cable , but when there is a connector which have a thick wire than the psu sata power cable wires - its powering up and working smooth , no problem yet .
i the voltages with multimeter shows 12 ,3.3 v , no problem , but hardrives powers well only with this thick wire sata power cable connector from psu power molex .
any explanation on this ?? thank you ,soon i am planning to buy some branded...
