                                  Open both files with HxD editor, click on Analysis tab>File compare>compare> then OK when one of the files is highlighted. Click on F6 for next difference, shift + F6 for the previous one. They should be EXACTLY the same for a good dump. I myself sometimes take three, particularly when doing unlock procedures.

                                                          This is a single Bios file that has been split and programmed into two Bios Chips .. you have to combine them into a single bios file before working on it with FIT or any other tool... the 8mb file is the beginning.. after, you have to split them back..

                                                                                  I have a Dell XPS-15 (9520) with the LA-L402P motherboard. It seems to have bricked itself after a common BIOS-Firmware upgrade. Now, it just shows BIOS screen for a few seconds before turning-itself back Off (and doesn't seem to be fully Posting). I've done these many times before with no problems.

                                                                                  I was hoping to please have my own-thread to work-through this (hopefully successful) repair as a whole.                                                                                   Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

I have a Dell Latitude 5530 (i7) laptop (South Peak 15 MLK MB DDR4 203102-1 FK8VG$JA) with an admin BIOS password that I want to remove. Service Tag: HYKFPT3. Other than that the laptop worked OK.

                                                                                  I found a CH341A Black and went looking for the BIOS chip on the motherboard. After trying to read one chip that was a firmware chip but not the BIOS I think I found the BIOS chip labeled Winbond 25Q256JVEN. Altogether I think I found 4 different firmware chips in the laptop. The BIOS chip is a WSON8 6x8. I used the CH341A, NeoProgrammer, and a cheap pogo pin clip...
