Working on old X380 Yoga Thinkpad with unknown SVP set, dumped 16.384 kb from Winbond W25Q128 chip, auto-patcher output says bin-file "is corrupted or does not contain a valid dump" - any hint? Thanks

Hi everyone! I'm having a problem trying to remove the password from my T480. I'm getting a weird tune on my thinkpad, and according to the Lenovo Diagnostics app, the error is 0285. Is there anything i can do? Already tried clearing TPM but nothing.
    Thanks in advance!

Here is the original BIOS file and the patched one.

Hello everyone, I've gotten a hold of a Thinkpad W540, and unfortunately it is bios locked. really bummed out how the seller didn't tell me but here we are. I've made dumps of the 2 bios chips (25Q032, 25Q064. 4 mb and 8 mb respectively) and made sure to compare the files. I couldn't patch the 8mb dump as the auto patcher thought it was corrupted or not a correct dump. it did patch the 4 mb dump just fine. i've since then never touched the 8mb chip and just flashed the patched 4 mb dump to the 4mb chip with my CH341a. upon doing this, the laptop was essentially bricked and would not boot up. Powers on but the fans spin, no image and no beeping. I've tried to patch it and flash it a few times and removed the cmos, the external battery and the hard drive to no avail. The laptop works just fine with the stock bios, what am i doing wrong? Here are my dumps.

Okay, ... not worth my time writing to the nand directly, not even opening that old x270 ^^
I get it, if it is a near new machine, ok ... but if i can't use the software flash tools, i give up

When did you see FL1 files being used? Everyone is talking about chip reading and programmer! It doesn't work like that.

there are several ways of accomplishing this, you can use a mini programmer to read the chip while on board or remove the chip and place it in the programmer and dumb the bios. obviously not all motherboards are compatible this way. this depends on the chip itself.

Have two questions if someone can assist.
    For Lenovo T580
    - Do you remove all batteries including CMOS before loading patch file.
    - What files goes on the USB. Only the patch file or the folder files?

OK, how to update a BIOS on X270? All the update methods tell me i don't have to upgrade, i already got the latest BIOS.

r0iuj44w.exe -> extract, replace the FL1 file with the patched one. It is always the latest BIOS. Did downgrade a few BIOS versions, did try 4 or 5 older BIOS, always the same. If i use the Windows updater, i am always up to date as soon as i use the batched FL1 file. Also if i try the boot stick, it is the same message.

So is there a ways to force update or is the patch not working for X270 at all?

I'm over it, no more try and error

    Regards

    hi all i have a question I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q

    S/N S4HN3366

I want to change the BIOS startup logo because there was a different logo before, and I've tried using the BIOS and tools like CMD and PowerShell, but nothing worked. I thought I would flash the BIOS with a new one, but now another issue has arisen. I want to restore the old BIN file, but the SPI programmer isn't working. I get a message saying "buffer data SPI match." The first upload was successful, but after the verify, it failed with an oversize message. I press OK, and then I get the "buffer data SPI match" again. What am I doing wrong?

i did what u posted in the 1st post and managed to bypass a bios password on a lenovo l480 using 8th gen intel cpu
the only thing i lacked was that python script, despite the fact i installed from the link provided in the tutorial , the cmd command told me it couldn't fint the python runtime
the i literally went to Microsoft store and got from there for free python and it WORKED
i flashed the patched rom , followed steps, and after that i re-flashed the original ROM and no password

    ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
    by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
    Some issues
    A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

    Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
    by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
    by Wahaz
    Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2523nd - Dimm2 slot disabled after corrupt bios repair? Advice requested.
    by Bloodhoundje
    Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
