Re: Help with bios programmer (EZP2019+)

I dump two files of the same bios chip with different speed (3 mhz and 12 mhz) now why are there differences when i try to compare them using hxd? Does it matter or it will not affect the dump

            That's a driver problem.
Drivers are included with the software.
Go to Device Manager and look under USB
Install the driver for the EZP2019 programmer.
            Problem solved.
Don't forget to deactivate the driver signature :-)

Hi! Long story short - I wanted to remove supervisor password from BIOS (MX25L12873F chip). I have read BIOS using AFUWINGUI64 (8MB), edited and pressed write - AFU started erasing the chip and then it showed error. I didn't manage to write BIOS using AFU - not original, nor edited. Then I have rebooted - no post, only power light is on. I have disassembled notebook, connected EZP2010 programmer and read the chip (16MB) using EZP2011 v3.0 (chip was detected as MX25L12805D). I have replaced corrupted partly erased BIOS part from 16MB file to previously read 8MB BIOS. Still no post. EZP erases this chip, verification of erased chip passes, then EZP writes this chip and verification of written chip passes. I have afterwards read the chip and compared both files using VBinDiff - files are the same.

I have also tried another BIOS dumps found here from similar model - still no luck.

So the question is - I need another programmer for this chip? Could there be any problems with EZP taking into account that verification passes?

I have successfully used the EZP2019+ to read and program my MX25L12873F. And successfully added it to the definitions table. Please see this post for details.

I have an EZP 2023+, bios programmer which was able to detect the BIOS mentioned below.

But when I tried reading the file of the bios chips - 25q32f - from HP 455 g1, I couldn't get the bios bin. I then click on the device bar at the top of the bios software, I tried adding the specific BIOS, but all to no avail.

What else can I do to get the original bios dumb from the bios chips before formatting it. Is there any other software?

Are you trying to read it using a clip? They are extremely unreliable.

                      Greetings badcaps community,

I havent done this for a long time and want to start it all again, after some evil and annyoing illness.
So I apologize in advance, if some phrases might sound a bit like gibberish or illogical to you.

Im trying my best to fully describe what I plan to achieve and hope I was choosing the right sub-forum for my new adventure.

                      I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.

These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.

                      I learned that desoldering...

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
                      1. I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
                      2. I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
                      3. I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this

Thinkpad t480s, completely dead after BIOS flash using CH341A programmer
                      by what_1282105
Following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/co...g_and_flashing) i re-flashed my t480s BIOS using an external (CH341A) programmer. The flash didnt work, so i reverted back to my BIOS backup successfully. The BIOS in the chip and the BIOS backup file are identical according to windows' file compare. The revert, however, didnt work: the only thing the computer does is flash the power button 3 times when AC power is connected. I've tried unplugging the CMOS battery, holding the reset button and holding down the power button- no signs of life....
