gateway bios password help

hey I am hoping someone can help me out I am trying to reset the bios on a gateway solo 9300 but am having no luck i have tryed the copy of unlock 6 I have for acer but it doesn't work. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

pull cmos -> check service manual -> dump eeprom. Keep trying unlock programs that work on your bios version if you can boot up. If its a power on password then the previous progression still applies.

ok i take it there is no way to do it without pulling the cmos? I have tryed every program I can find and none of them work and ideas if anyone has any would be great

The password for these things usually is on external eEprom not in the CMOS itself. For security it is sometimes encrypted. Of course it varies by maker and model. Hence usually with a password locked laptop you are screwed.

can't he just clear the cmos by jumper, or by removing the battery for a period of time?

no. on newer laptops all the passwords for the bios are stored on the EEPROM chips.. the only thing that you could do was reset the bios configurations to factory by pulling the battery.. and that includes both the bios battery and main battery.. but the passwords for access are not power sensitive so do not get erased like on a desktop..

sometimes it still works but usually it does not.

still works on new laptops need to bridge to pads on the motherboard most of time success here
