First let me say, sorry guys, I have not been around lately.. Been too busy and have not had time to come on.. But I did not forget about you all.. Now to the topic..
I came across this site after looking up about a laptop that came in that did not work. It effects HP, Compaq, Dell, and Apple with Nvidia chipsets and with purchase dates from 2005 to 2010. Here is a link if anyone is interested.

Re: computer on 2 networks
you forgot to add one thing.. hubs usually just forward the info on and work more like a standard splitter, meaning you loose signal strength as it goes through the hub. A switch will not only direct it to the correct port, but also works like a amplifier and strengthens the signal for better transmission lengths and accuracy.

Re: Intel Motherboard D945GNT NO DISPLAY
it does sound like soemthing is shorted out. I would say to make sure you know where each wire goes and try disconnecting everything from the board except for the processor (with heatsink and fan) and RAM and see if it still does the same. If so then it is a component that is shorting out. I have seen this happen with ROMS, Hard Drives, USB, etc. so it could be any thing that is plugged in.

nice to hear you found the problem.. good luck

Re: House wiring
partly right.. standard RG6 starts at duel shielding.. Here that is very easy to find.. If you are going to want the better stuff, I would more watch toward getting solid copper cable instead of copper clad (copper coated steel "center data wire only"). The copper clad will work, but the solid copper is more flexible, and because of it being a solid copper core wire, it has less signal drop..

Re: Hard crashes.
was the previous hard drive doing the same thing, or just the new one? if both are, then it may be the caps, but if only the second one did, then you may have gotten a bad hard drive. I have seen hard drives work fine for a week then go bad all of the sudden with no warning.
Also, what are you running and what are the power supplies that you used? Brand.. how many watts.. etc.. Just asking because if you are running a PC that has a powerful video card that requires something like a 300watt power supply and you only have a 300 or 350 watt in...

Re: BigPond signup irony
Time Warner cable here is about the same.. One thing i can say is at least when you do get to talk to someone, they are not complete idiots..
now verizon on the other hard are. I remember calling up once because the internet would go out every time that it rained. their response to why it only when out when it rained was because my cord from the wall to the DSL modem was too long.. Im still trying to figure out that one.. Sad part is that not only did one person tell me that, I got the same answer from about 10 different people!!!...

Re: GX280 dell tower
if you want an idea about price on anything, you can not get it without knowing where you are.. shipping in country is obviously going to be much cheaper then overseas, etc..
and as they said, if you know someone that knows how to solder, ask them if they can do it, or you could try doing it yourself, or send it to topcap and have him do it.. maybe new board off ebay, etc..

Re: Recapping K7S41GX
also, check to make sure that you got all the flux cleaned up good under the caps, if there is flux under them, then it can cause a short and cause it to not read the hardware properly. also double check your solder joints and as what was previously started, maybe try resetting the bios to factory..

Re: odd motherboard voltage reading
First, since it is just software, check the settings and turn off the alerts.. that should fix the annoying alarms.
second, you can use caned air, or a brush or even a vacuum if you want.. just make sure that whatever you use, it is always best to make sure that the power is turned off and the power cord is pulled before you do anything. IF the board is too dirty, then there is always the meangreen or whatever soap you have aspect.. there is a thread about it somewhere on here. just make sure not to hit anything on the...Last edited by kaniki; 07-29-2010, 10:35 PM.

Re: I'd like your opinions on this...
check the board for warping too. maybe the board warped a little and makes it so that maybe one of the components are not making a good connection. I have actually seen a board do this that warped the whole ram slot. I had to put something under the board to push it back up (i used rubber) and then screwed the motherboard back down on top of it. that straightened the board out enough to get the ram to make a connection again. It may or may not be the RAM, it may be another part but is a possibility.

Re: sister withdraw
uranium.. soemthing about that just does not seem right.... Im surprised that it even installed.. but like they say, to each his own..
as for the PI filter, tell me if i am wrong, but from what i have read, A PI filter basically filters the ripple on the line to give a cleaner and more steady power output and also helps remove any noise that may have leaked into the power line (crosstalk) too. Is that correct?

Re: odd motherboard voltage reading
check the kits.. some kits only replace the known or commonly bad caps.. if you want to change every cap, then always check to make sure with the vendor..
as for previous questions.. yes it could be just a bad sensor or software issue, and if that is the case then there is no problem, but if the power is actually fluctuating like you said, then it is bad on components and can/will dramatically shorten their life. but one thing to remember, if the voltage actually did go that low, then the PC would not run stable and would have...

Re: Mass Rubycon failure on MSI K9N NEO-F
I agree with that.. I had one computer in here that had the power supply sucking air out and a fan right under it that sucked air in. no front cooling fan either.. all that happened was more of a recycled vortex of heated air..
also, if you look, from your pictures, all the ruby's are right next to heat sinks so they were probably getting constantly blasted with hot air.....Last edited by kaniki; 07-24-2010, 11:16 AM.

Re: sister withdraw
Ok.. the good, the bad and the ugly.. first, i was told that they just "barely bumped" the PC and it went out.. I just found out that they are sooooo full of .... uummm... it.. (being nice) I turned around, completely pulled out the motherboard and guess what.. with just the basics hooked up, it started right up.. after examining it, i found that they bashed in the front USB plug ports on the front of the case. Put everything back together and plugged everything back in just the way that it was except the front USB and no problems (that is with the...

Re: Successful recap of a LCD monitor!
I know the feeling.. sometimes it is fun to just tear things apart and fix them..
In any case, as for the solder, it does not matter if you use leaded or non leaded solder. they will both work. Each person has their own preference, but to say that one will last longer then the other, they are about even.. and if they do break down, it will be long after the equipment is junk anyways..
what i would check is the solder that you use.. some have what they call flux or an acid core.. that basically means that they...

Re: people with parts connections, help
just a thought, but if you can make contact by holding it tight, then maybe try putting something around it (like a tight rubber band) to hold it together to get the info off.. or if you can lay it down, use some kind of vise-grips or a clamp to gently hold it together to to make the contact.. but if you do that, just make sure that you dont put too much pressure so you dont damage any parts and make sure to put something like some rubber or plastic under the clamp to make sure you dont short anything out.. that is what i would try at least....
