No, not going to happen as you think. There is no software based methods, and if you want to do it - buy a programmer, the cheapest one is ch341a (10 bucks or even cheaper from ali), then read how to use it and we can talk later.Leave a comment:

Re: hp elitebook 840 g4 need password unlock
It's specific - serials etc., so first take a good verified dump of your machine and upload the file here for unlock. After that you can write unlocked file back to the bios chip.Leave a comment:

Re: hp elitebook 840 g4 need password unlock
I don't agree that you can blow away surrounding components with max air. The surface tension hold those components in place. You would have to physically move those components to make them fly away.
The only probleem is plastics melting. But on elitebooks, it is usually not a problem. On ProBooks, it is mostly a big problem. On this model, only the thin plasti under SSD will be deformed. Wouldn't call it an issue.
Just remove bios battery before soldering and you should be fine. It might take a while for the bios chip to start moving so please be gentle with the tweezers. Do not use force with the tweezers, it is pointless and harmful.Leave a comment:

P.S. Forgot to say - if you have surrounding plastic components, take care to cover it all with the kapton tape, or you will melt something very easily!
And last but not least pay attention about the chip position.
P.S.2 You can watch this youtube video for education, and how to do it.Last edited by Vesko356; 01-27-2020, 05:56 PM.Leave a comment:

Hello Vesko356,
I'm actually afraid of breaking something on the mother board or something like that, do you have some advices/tutorials/other instructions to give me sothat I do it as safely as possible?

It has a WSON8 packaged EEPROM. Can't unsolder it without hot air.Leave a comment:

Re: hp elitebook 840 g4 need password unlock
Best way is to remove the chip from the board, you can try to solder wires to the chip also, but this not always work with HP laptops. What is the problem, de soldering the chip from the board is not a hard job, even without the hot air station?Leave a comment:

by Modify_incI have a Inspiron 11 3185, and in the BIOS setup under Security it shows "Locked Setup", which limits pretty much everything in the BIOS. I'm using bios-pw.org to generate the codes for the hash, but they never work for the Locked Setup password. The codes generated for the System password and the HDD password work fine, but the code for the Locked Setup password always fails. I don't understand, if it works for the first two, why is it not working for the Locked Setup p/w? Since I can't disable it, anytime I reboot, even after a Windows update, I have to go through the hassle of generating...

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-
