Do I have to make dump of the EC bios as well if the laptop is "Protected by HP Sure Start".
Or is a dump and password removal of the main bios enough?

Hello members, I have the same problem as all of you. My BIOS is locked. I need to unlock it. I have backup file, from my BIOS IC, which is MX25L12873F.
BIOS backup file you can find here. Can unlock that file and write the steps for additional tasks to do that everything work well. As I understand correctly, you have to do more that overwrite BIOS file.

Hey guys. I'm new to this forum, and from what I've read I should be able to complete this. However, do you guys have any advice for expediting the process? I recently acquired hundreds of these laptops all bios locked. Any advice would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, each bios in those laptops is unique, so no, you cannot expedite the process. The only way of accelerating process is to have the password, which I guess is impossible, but worth asking... Hopefull the one that sold you the laptops have the password, or can ask the password from the enterprises he gets them from.

A way to accelerate things though, is to remove the password yourself from the files, which is possible, by removing some binary data and replacing it by 0xFF or 0x00 at certain places.
Process is:
- Remove the bios chip
- Read it and make sure your read it well
- remove the password
- write the new bios in it
- resolder it back
For hundred of laptops it will be painful, but after getting used to the process, you will be able to treat one laptop in 30 minutes.

i don't have backup. I was buy motherboard without CHIP. I buy chip and all voltage and resistant looks ok so probbly it was bios issue and someone can't fix this so sold motherboard...
