HP EliteBook 840 G6 fan spinning at 100% after bios unlock
Hi guys,
I have a HP EliteBook 840 G6 here which I unlocked with RCUnlocker.
It boots fine, does everything it should, except that the fan spins permanently at 100%.
Already tried other fans. Then I made a BIOS update with no success either.
I tried restoring my backup dump but got nowhere with it. I don't know if it was due to bad soldering or because the bios update might have caused something to be incompatible now. At least that was my conclusion after multiple attempts.
Funny thing - I got a used replacement mainboard from ebay and...same... -

I can't see any damage on the DC jack. The jack has 4 pins, 2 seem to be GND, one for +19.5V and one for ID. The adapter I use is original HP and it works with other HP notebooks. I also tested another HP adapter.
I think I found something relevant, this part seems damaged...might be the source of my problem.
But I can't read the marking anymore, as the top is a bit molten. I can read a trailing "RJ" and maybe an A or a 4 is the starting character...so "A*RJ" or "4*RJ".

Hi!
I have been scratching my head for almost a full day on a HP EliteBook 850 G4 / 6050a2854301-MB-A01
The Laptop runs fine on battery.
When plugging in the AC adapter, the power button LED goes on for 1-2s, then switches off.
On pressing the power button I get 8 blinks plus a very short 9th flash of the power/charging LED, then the laptop goes completely dark again.
When I start the device with battery and AC power, HP battery check in the support assistant tells me that no charger is connected and no charging symbol shows up in the task... -

Hi, I also have a E5470 in which the generated password from bios-pw.org does not work.
Bios version 1.21.4
With which tool do you replace the bios region? I tried "UEFITool NE", but the "Replace as is..." menu option is always disabled.
Would any newer bios downloaded and extracted from the dell website work or use one as close as possible?

Okay, flashed back my backups, that I took before doing anything at all with this laptop...
Not it starts up again...don't know what was wrong yesterday, I guess it was too late.
* HP Logo with "Secured by HP Sure Start" is displayed
* Info screen "the last steps of a bios update are in progress..."

Yes it's an AMD CPU.
Ok, but the firmware.bin from the HP bios update is still about 4mb to big for my bios chips.
I checked the contents a bit and it seems to me that the last 4mb contain some things regarding webcam stuff...maybe an appended firmware update or something like that.
Did you encounter something like that before?

but I actually don't have a 16mb chip. At least I'm not aware of it and can't find another eeprom.
I have located two Winbond 25Q256... chips with 32mb each so far.
One on the bottom (U367) and one the top (U365/U366).

I have a EliteBook 855 G7 here,
took a dump from both Winbond Bios Chips.
Is it enough to remove the Password section from the bottom bios chip?
Or does the EEPROM on the top side have to be modified as well?
