Hi, I have an E14 Gen 2 AMD with a BIOS password.
    MTM: 20TA000EGE S/N unit: PF39P83A S/N board: L!HF1A6056Z

I tried to delete the areas starting with 0003D3C0 and 0003EF00 in the EC dump, as I did for an E14 Gen 3 AMD. But here this didn't work.
Would be nice if someone could tell me which areas I need to delete.

I don'r know, if someone before me already tried to remove the password. I noticed, that the area starting with 0003D3C0 was somehow cleaned.
Ok, I'll try to write 00 into these two areas.

When writing 00 into these two areas, the laptops says "Bad SVP data, process stopped".

sorry, my fault. I mixed up two laptops.

In the meantime I have found my mistake, a very stupid mistake: when writing 00 in the area starting with 0003EF00, I accidentally had 8 bytes starting with 04 07 in the HexEdit buffer instead of starting with 00 00. Apparently the laptop complained about wrong SVP data.

So the procedure for deleting the password is exactly the same, as for the E14 Gen3 (AMD).

                Hi everyone!

I’m curious if this file will work on any E14 Gen 2 machine and if so, how would I go about loading it? My guess is that it probably won’t, since most people share their serial numbers and other system details.

I recently bought what seemed like a fantastic deal on an E14 Gen 2, only to find it locked down at the BIOS level (it looks like CompuTrace/Absolute Persistence) and then asking for BitLocker on boot (which I assume is just the SSD encryption). I’ve thought about trying to desolder the BIOS chip with a heat gun though I’m not even sure how many layers there are to tackle! More realistically, I might hire someone with the right programming hardware and skills, but that could get expensive.

So here’s what I’d love to know:
                1. Skill level: How much expertise do you need to safely remove or flash the BIOS chip?
                2. Tools & software: What hardware (programmer, clip adapters, etc.) and software would be required?
                3. Process overview: What are the general steps involved, and are basic tools (heat gun, soldering iron, alligator clips) enough, or would I need more specialized equipment?
I’ve searched around the forum but haven’t found clear answers. Sorry if this isn’t allowed here. Just let me know, and I’ll happily remove my post. Thanks so much for any advice!

post S/N, full name and model, motherboard model, etc.

post the original contents of the bios chip..
The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

you need an SPI programmer...here is a video for example..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWi...nnel=ThisIsHow

peste Hey there! Thanks so much for all the info so far. I was wondering if you might have a step-by-step guide for working with Lenovo machines and specifically what hardware and software I’d need. I spotted this budget-friendly module on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/ABSOK-CH341A-...dp/B08HH6CPVF/) but I’m not 100% sure it’s a match for the job. Since my machine’s already pretty much a brick, I’ve got nothing to lose by trying it out. Also, do you have any software recommendations for dumping the firmware and then reloading it, if I can get that far? If these topics have already been covered somewhere, please send me the link. I'll be happy to remove my posts so I don’t clutter up the community. Thanks again!

Questions I have outside of generously asking for a fixed version of this BIOS are:
                        - Do I need to remove BitLocker first (how to do PROPERLY?)?
                        - Do I need to worry about an "EC"?
                        - How do I flash whatever files I get back?

I made this dump using the following in Ubuntu Linux: `sudo flashrom -p ch341a_spi -r backup1.bin`

                        Model: E14 Gen 2
                        Type: 20T6-002QS
                        Board: NM-C771
                        Serial: PF-2PF0NR

Here is a picture of the chip and the machine has BitLocker activated. I remember reading somewhere that you should "somehow" remove BitLocker first because of the TPM on the board. I have not read anywhere yet how to do that or what my next steps are should I get back a supposedly working BIOS...

                                Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

Hi, my laptop suddenly shut down while it was running. When I try to turn it back on, the screen stays black and it emits a melodic beep.

I used Lenovo's SmartBeep decoder and it returned error 0284:
"TCG-compliant functionality-related error (possibly BIOS code validation failure)"

I then tried to enter crisis BIOS recovery mode by pressing Fn + R at boot. The melodic error code changes, but nothing else happens regardless of whether a USB is inserted. I receive another...

                                Hello all,

I'm trying desperately to revive a ThinkStation P720 that I purchased from a seller who claims it suffered a "failed firmware update."

When given power, the machine turns on, spins up fans, beeps a single time, fans slow down, then a beep code is sounded repeatedly (3 high/short tones, 1 low/long tone).

                                Things I have tried:

                                Hello there.

I am working on a Lenovo Legion T5-26AMR5 desktop that currently has a corrupt BIOS and I have been unsuccessful thus far in trying to fix it myself.

                                History:

                                1. This computer came to me initially with an error message that said "BiInitializeLibrary failed 0xc0000001" or "0135 fan error". It would always be one of the two errors. It should be noted that when it produced the fan error, there was no physical problem with the fans. They were all spinning just fine.

I searched for this error online and discovered...

                                ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?

Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                Some issues
                                A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                                Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...
