    820-01521 only shows 5V 0.04A

    Hello,

    i've been working on macbook air 820-01521
    it is dead no charging. tried to connect to apple configurator always shows accessories not supported.

    using amp meter only shows 5V and 0.04A

    here are some measurements:

    PPBUS_G3H = 12.26V
    PP3V3_G3H = 3.275V
    PP5V_G3S = 0V
    PP20V_USBC_XA_VBUS = 5V (can i inject 20V 1A here?)

    First check why there is no 20v.
    Check CD chips.
    Most of the time if you manage to make them go board will wake up.

    Do not start from back

    PP5VG3S_EN present?

    How do you have 12.2v on main rail?
    Do you meassure with battery connected? (come on)

      PP20V_USBC_XA_VBUS = 5V (can i inject 20V 1A here?)
      No!! If you are not getting to 20v, something is wrong.

      Remove all power. Meter in diode mode.

      Red lead - yes RED meter lead to ground.

      Black meter lead to a LDO rail of each ACE power delivery controller.

      Check the LDO rails in diode mode of each ACE controller and post the readings.

      Repeat for each ACE device.

            These are resistance readings. Do you have a diode scale on your meter? Can you post a pic of your meter?

            Then review my earlier post on how to use the diode mode scale and take the measurements.

                Press the yellow button to cycle through to diode-mode.

                It'll likely show a diode symbol on the screen

                  As mon2 said kingskie, checking diode mode readings should start to give you a idea of which ACE controller may be acting differently. It may show all the same readings for all but it is a good place to start to see any differences.

                      What are the voltage readings of the following?

                      PP1V8_SLPS2R

                          These 2 rails are ok. They power the T2 device.

                            yes they both have the same current draw...could it be T2 chip is the culprit or PMIC?

                                    Post a pic of your multimeter so we can confirm the diode mode setting.

                                        You are in ohms mode.

                                        Press the yellow button till you see the diode symbol and measure again.

                                          Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                                          by chth96
                                          I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

                                          "In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
                                          Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
                                          It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

                                          Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

                                          I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

                                          I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...

                                          Changing the scale of an analog meter

                                          Hi

                                          I want to change the scale of an analog meter, to monitor the charge of an li-ion single cell, so the needle at the end would point 4.2 volts and the 0 on the meter would point 2.5 volts or so, i tried to add diodes or a zener in series with the meter but the changes of the ambient temperature also changes the voltage value on the meter
                                          I wonder how i can accomplish this so the meter would be precise at any temperature ?

                                          About a month ago we had a transformer jumper wire that burned in two different places between two transformers caused over $200 thousand dollars worth of damage to VFD drives at least 10 of them and a memory card and quite a few power supply as well

                                          Now we have most of the equipment that got damaged back up and running except a feeder that has issues and we are waiting for some parts for

                                          Now we also have another piece of equipment that was blowing fuses on the 110 volt controller switch circuit with the ā€œEā€ stops and one switching power (24 volt) supply and a transformer...

                                          Hello, this is my first post on this forum, and my first attempted to repair a TV.

                                          My Philips 58PUS7805/12 stopped working recently. It is not that old, about 5 years. We were on a trip for a few days and when we came back, it had stopped working out of a blue (Perhaps our house was hit by a lightning strike? Don't know.)

                                          Read from a guide that I should test if the screen shows picture with one of the T-Con cables disconnected. Did that, it showed perfect picture (first on left, later on right side).

                                          Read also that we should test what happens if we...
