    MB Air 13 820-00165-A missing components

    Hello guys,

    I'm trying to figure out and fix the board after previous repair attempt. The board is overall very clean with almost no signs of previous work.

    I noticed that U8030 IC chip is missing and that is the only area on the board where traces of work is visible.
    Without this chip U8030 (TPS22924), which is 3.3V S0 switch, of course there is no PP3V3_S0 (it is 0.54V).
    Without U8030, when connecting charger, fan has full speed and there is no chime, the board is "braindead".

    I have performed some measurements and this is what I got:
    PPBUS_G3H = 8.56V
    PP3V42_G3H = 3.42V
    PP5V_S0 = 5.1V
    PP3V3_S5 = 3.3V
    PM_SLP_S3_L = 3.3V
    PM_SLP_S4_L = 3.3V

    PP3V3_S0_EN = 3.23V
    PP3V3_S0 = 0.54V (this is to be expected since U8030 is removed)

    I'm using the schematics from here, but this is for 820-001165 and I can see that some other components that exist on schematics don't exist on the board (there are no traces that they are removed) and also same components are not present on pictures from functional boards sold on ebay.

    Current I don't have a new U8030, but I wonder what was the reason it needed to be removed. Output from this chip is PP3V3_S0_FET_R and I measured this on the test pin (connected to leg nr 1 against ground on the chip) against ground in diode mode and I got 391 reading which means there is no short to ground.

    It seems that the next step would be to buy new U8030 chip and to try solder it on the motherboard.

    Since this chip is actually a switch, would it be advisable to try to short input and output (to bridge it) to test what happens next?

    This way I would send PP3V3_S5 (3.3V) to PP3V3_S0_FET_R line.

    Another idea would be to place N-channel mosfet from other DELL motherboard, glue it on the board, connect PP3V3_S0_EN to the GATE, PP3V3_S5 to the drain and PP3V3_S0_FET_R to the source.

    Please let me know what you think.

    That components doesn't exist on all 820-00165 board as far as I know.

      820-02020 PPBUS_AON missing

      Board had no history of liquid; unsure of drop history, but no signs of damage of any kind worth noting.

      Charger sitting at 5v/0a. PPBUS is at 1.9v-0.9v steady cycle (peaks, drains, loops). Confirmed CHGR_EN_MVR is missing, but DCIN was reaching ISL just fine, so replaced ISL--no change at all. Confirmed pp3v8_aon is also missing--and being unsure *exactly* which signal appears first (or if they are simultaneous), I inspected PMU/U8100 area and found no shorts, but also found PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN missing (not shorted). Replaced U8100 just in case (have had them fail in weird ways),...

      Apple NVIDIA AGP GeForce 6800 GT Dual Link DVI+DVI outputs 603-6338 missing caps!
      by jpreza
      Hi everyone,

      I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.

      Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).

      It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.

      Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:

      1x 1.0uH inductor - orange square
      2x...

      Hey guys.

      Need help with this one.
      Fan not spinning due to missing PWN Fan signal.
      Also 5 seconds from powering up it freezes, unless in BIOS.
      But as soon as Windows starts to load, it will freeze.
      CPU is COLD / Room temp when it freezes.

      I've replaced the CPU, same problem.
      Replaced SIO/KBC IT8987e and reprogrammed - same problem.
      Replaced fan - same problem.
      Replaced flex cable from board to daughterboard (which has fan connector on it) - same problem.
      Checked the Thermal sensors around CPU and Board to the SIO/KBC and...

      Hello. I would need some advice please.

      My son's MBP suddenly stopped working and is now only getting the green-then-orange light on Magsafe and no fan spin.
      He brought the MBP into the house (22 deg C) from a very cold conservatory (-3 deg C) and turned it on straight away. The Mac suddenly died a few minutes later.

      I examined the logic board and couldn't find any signs of water damage, corrosion, blown up components etc. Nothing was ever spilt on it, and the logic board looks immaculate.

      I have already replaced the logic board with another...

      HP - CE Series - DAG7ALMB8C0 REV.C - MODEL - G7AL-2G - Missing MAINON & SUSON - Turns on power LED & Charges
      by reessi
      Hello,

      I have re-soldered the loose pins on the RAM slot which is a common fault on these models..

      It charges and turns on the power LED but is missing several voltages like RAM and CPU do not come up which I believe is due to MAINON & SUSON being missing to turn these supplies on..

      What I am un-sure of is what is the ITC chip waiting for to send out these signals, what are the requirements?
      I have checked these lines in diode mode and they seam normal -> 600.

      I have checked to see if they come on for even a fraction of a second...
