Asus K56CB-XO488H not detect Nvidia GT740M

    Hello.
I got a faulty Asus K56CB-XO488H laptop that did not turn on. The problem was the BIOS. On this forum I got a BIOS dump which I flashed to new chip.

The laptop is working now. There is only one problem with it. The laptop has Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia GT740m. Only the Intel HD 4000 appears in Device Manager. There is no setting in the BIOS to disable it. I also tried updating the BIOS, it didn't help. The Nvidia Chip doesn't even heat up.

Could it have to do with having a bios dump from the forum and not the original? Or need to look for the fault elsewhere?

Do you know a bios dump that would be good for me to this?

BIOS requests go into the BIOS request section.

I had an old post about this laptop there(when not power on due to bios), I also wrote there with this problem but I didn't get an answer to the graphics problem. I also wrote here because I wasn't sure this was a BIOS problem.

If I have the BIOS flasher here, I'll give it a try. Thank you!

Could there be a similar problem? Lenovo U510 LA-8972P. Despite the display screen, the video card is not seen in the device management, PU801 GPU power control RT8813A chip no + 5v at 21 pin, 2.2 ohm protection resistor open circuit. The chip was replaced and the problem was resolved. Check the VGA_GPU voltages.

I'm still a beginner in these so I don't really know what to look for.
There is a mosfet (Nikos P1203BV) between the processor and the NVIDIA chip. I noticed that the Drain pin is 1.05V, but the Source and Gate pin are 0V. Could this be a problem?

I just noticed that a capacitor and a diode(maybe) on the other side has burned.

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
                      by grimacelord
                      Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

                      ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                      by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                      Some issues
                      A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                      Things I tried

                      Hi there,

I know there is somebody who can tell me what is happening with my laptop. For start, it is an asus vivobook s510ua with an asustek x510ua motherboard with an intel i5 7200u cpu and 16gb ram.. i have a screenshot from speccy before strange things started.. as you can see the laptop type and bios version x510ua.302.I don’t manually update the bios because i don’t like to having a bricked bios, i know what troubles that gives..

I did a fresh win 11 install, and after the automatic updates, windows rebooted and automatically started asus ez flash.....
