I already did that.. Just removed the backcover clicked a other screen on the connector stil the same. i think something on the motherboard is causing it.

Re: Alienware m17x r4 snowy screen..

what panel u have ? 60 or 120hrz ? what vga u have ? how is bios set up ?

if u have tried 3d screen only, then it could be a bad mxm vga as intel vga is disabled when using 120hrz screen.

if u have 60hrz screen and fullhd resolution monitor, try enter the bios and setup bios to only sg (single graphics) to see it it works with intel vga, then try to setup to peg only with intel vga disabled.

if pc start giving 8 beep and u cant get out of it, remove power and battery and keep pressed power botton for 10 seconds, if still 8 beep , do the same but also remove cmos battery.
when powering on again, if u get 5 beep, just power off and then power on again.

it could be bad intel vga, bad mxm , bad lcd cable or bad panel.

on my m17x r4 that i use as my only pc, i got some blurry effect on the center of the screen and was a bad 120hrz panel.

What i just did i removed the nvidiacard... and just started only with the intel hd grapics... and still the problem ....maby it is a faulty processor with the intgrated intel hd grapics.

I cant disable in the bios the intel... i dont see that option. I changed the processor with intel graphics still the same problem. The weird thing is if it is the lvds cable why it doesnt function on hdmi? It should work ok then on hdmi... ur causes the cable a malfunction on hdmi also?

hdmi was ok. still dunno if u have a 3d or 60hrz screen and what vga u have.

and the orange color should be red.

if u have 3d screen then probably screen is gone bad, but with 3d screen u cant use intel graphics, so if u have removed the mxm and pc boot then u have 60hrz screen, unless u plug a hdmi cable , then it will work.

I expected this from the get go. Snow on picture is almost always a LVDS cable or connector problem. Glad you found it.

Thats the suggestion at the last post in that forum, although he never posted again to say if replacing those IC`s fixed the problem or not . You know its not the cable or screen.
