acer es1-711 problem..... white screen and now black screen

hi, got this laptop one month ago with a freezing problem. it has only one bga for nb sb and cpu. its cpu is n2840.
i ordered stencil for reballing the chip from goldenchipset, but when i melted the 0.35mm bals, when lifting the stencil some pad ripped off and other balls didnt melt on bga. i looked and investigate the situation and found that balls holes on stencil were not the right dimention. i asked gc and they would send me a new stencil, but as far some pads were ripped off i got a refurbished bga too with already leaded balls on it.

when bga arrived, i soldered properly, but got a white screen.

i gived then another reflow and now this time i have black screen.

what could be the cause ?

i removed bios, its a winbond 25q64fv, but when i put on my programmer it tell me chip is different.... and im not able to program it.

now i will put some other bios with a dump i got from internet and ggive it a try, but would like to know if someone got already in the same situation and why white screen and then after a reflow black screen ?




edit: tried 2 bios dump ive found on internet, but with that bioses pc wont even start.

What bios programmer do you have. The dumps you got ,did they have a clean ME area .

I feel it has something to do with bga reball/replacement as lvds lines all originate from there only. Bios issue-I dont beleive it.

here is a dump of original bios even if it told me chip mismatch. my programmer is a sofi sp8-a and it read well similar bioses.

u think bga is soldered bad or bga is defective ?

original = my bios
the other 2 1 is without me i think and one with, but both dont make notebook start.

other is tool to save bios from windows...

on coils, all voltages are present. so all volts comes, but no picture

I feel it is most likely the bga/reball too. You can`t rule out the bios though,i`ve had similar problems after a reball,booting to white screen first then blank .

The 25q64fv is in the sofi supported bios list.Do you have the latest software

Your original bios has a ME area , the other bios (Acer E 17 ES1-711-C7ZU V1.04 ME LOCKED.bin) doesn`t

i have programmed a 25q64fv without problem, just this acer bios give me problem...

and as i sayd original make pc start with black screen, while the other bioses make pc like dead

Have you programmed the EC or just bios

The EC file is the 4MB one , the bios is 8MB . For what its worth i`ve added clean ME firmware to your original bios, and added ME firmware to the other (locked) bios. Flash the original cleaned bios first and try it. If you try the other bios,flash the EC bios as well ,back it up first if you do .

according to what you said, it would be better to keep the original bios and start troubleshooting, until you find a missing signal or voltage. then, you can tell what is faulty. probably, it leads to a bad reflow or a bad bga chip.

today i treied both original bios with me removed and the bios found on internet with me added. none of them make notebook light to come up, like notebook is totally dead.

Try flashing your original bios back or the one with clean ME at post #11 . What part number is the motherboard,including rev number.

ok this notebook is making me crazy...... before doing all test, i tested ram in another pc with memtest and all was ok. after i got bad bga, my customer told me to fix pc asap and anycost, so i picked up on ebay a second hand mainboard for 140€ .......

arrived today, and guess what ? pc freeze same as before removing bga. i removed keyboard, touchpad, wifi, but pc freeze....

bad second hand mainboard or what ?

originally notebook got windows 8, but now i have windows 10. what could be the problem ? bad memory ? :|

Freezing very likely on 2-3 points-
01. bad memory
02. Bad graphics chip(in this case cpu+pch)
03. Drivers issue or os issue
04. Overheating.

You are aware of all the points l;isted above. Now just rule out one by one and see where it heads.......

Sometimes, laptops act very strangely. This makes our lives difficult to afford.
How long does it take to freeze from starting up?
Does it freeze in safe mode or in Bios setup?
I think you really need the Universal Boot CD now to test various parts of the laptop.
RAM sticks may act really tricky. For example, a while ago, I had a RAM stick that passed the POST testing very good, but it leaded to freezing after some minutes of working fine in Windows.
I think the failure symptoms of the laptop will give us better clues.

im buyng new ram. windows install went fine, but when doing first reboot pc freeze. doing a memtest today gived me a freeze too, so lets change that ram bank and see if we can get out of this crappy notebook
