    Toshiba LED Backlight problem

    Hi Guys
I have made an mistake whilst changing the Led Screen ive left the battery in whilst unplugging and plugging the new screen in, this has now caused the backlight to go, I can see the dark icons but the screen light wont work.

The backlight was working fine before hand, the new screens have been tested and both are ok, I cannot find the Schematic or the fuse for this backlight on the board model, here is the Model if anyone can please help me out, much appreciated thank you

    Toshiba C50D-A-146
    Motherboard model: PT10AN-DSC
    Rev 2.1

I've managed to find a burnt area directly underneath the Led connector, I am thinking of just bridging this, I suspect it to be a fuse? Anyone tell from the pics what this is please? Thank you

Looks like pictures didn't upload properly here they are again, Pic 1 is the only (Burnt) component I can find

Pic 2 is the plastics directly underneath where this component lies (Burnt plastic residue) I think

What pictures ? Sounds like you probably shorted something out and the board needs a very minor repair.

          Re: Toshiba LED Backlight problem

          alright!

use IPA and clean the whole zone.

scrape everything down that is ash and try to see where it goes.

use your DMM to trace down where it goes and where it comes from.

i will say that is a Coil and if it had any marking it will be with L. 95%

but it can be a cap but its to dark and can`t see really good in that picture.

i don`t think a cap will blow in that spot because it needs a lot of amps if its a 10uF cap SMD 2.4v

so my money its with the COIL.

beware!!! it may be shorted to ground and if you bridge it it may blow something MORE important.

take it down. power up and see how much voltage you got there. inject the same amount of voltage on the other side(pin).
if it powers up then you can bridge it.

maybe its just a fuse and i miss the boat when they started making them bigger and blacker

          have fun!
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Thank you for your time, are you saying take it off as it looks cooked anyway? is there anything I can put on whilst its powered up to see if the led lights up or not? I don't know much about this side of things as you can gather :-)

Like I said in the previous post.
Check how much voltage you got on the pad after you take it of then inject voltage and see if it powers up

                    o well!

                    nice fix

i just wanted to explain how it works if you got no schematic and no way of finding out whats there.

                    Good job!

next time you do that with the solder blop there i`m sure it will blow up the the 3.v/5v regulator or KBC :P

                    been there
