    incredible CQ56

Today I had a hp CQ56-220SL which I had repaired a month ago because does not charge and would not turn on
    BIOS flashed all ok .

Had the same problem today. flashed bios ok turn on . I closed the laptop put the battery on ,it turned on and locked on the logo hp.
I removed the battery, and do not charge more the same problem.
Reopened flash bios again with another chip 1mb (because I thought is defective the chip) ok charge again turn on all ok .
Closed again when i put the battery blocked again

no charge no turn on dead

flashed again for the third time ,

I FIND THE PROBLEM IS BAD BATTERY WHEN I PUT IN HIM CORRUPT THE BIOS, WITH ANOTHER BATTERY FUNCTION NORMALLY.

Finally closed turn on without battery function perfectly.

I noted on the battery for the client, do not use more dangerous.

sorry for my english if i am not clear the fault is of google translate.

Interesting. Did you find out why the battery was corrupting the BIOS?

Did a new battery solve the problem?

        With new battery work fine.

today i got an hp notebook dv5 with daqt8hmb mainboard. pc was reballed of nb and worked fine. as i mounted all back, plug in battery power on and i got the 2 blinking mean corrupted bios. put psu and pc power on ok. battery is almost charged, so that was strange. put another battery and charged it a bit and noticed battery inductor got a bit hot. after it was charged to let me power on laptop, it still did the 2 blinking caps (mean bios corrupted). if i use psu only or battery+psu pc power on ok.

so i checked bios voltage with battery only and with battery+psu and result are these:

with only battery voltage on pins:
                1-3.3
                2 0
                3 3.3
                4 0
                5 0
                6 0
                7 3.3
                8 0

                with battery + psu:
                1 0.17
                2 1.5
                3 3.3
                4 0
                5 0.23
                6 0
                7-8 3.3

You should start another topic. But try cleaning RAM slots with IPA. If no go, the NB is faulty and needs to be replaced, reballing only fixed it for a little bit. Had the same issue on a couple dv5 boards. Replaced NB and all ok.

QFT. Sounds like you need to reseat HDD and RAM, just in case of poorly seated RAM.

And there's a good chance it's the southbridge, if reseating don't stop the lockup at the BIOS logo.

BTW, I had a CQ 61 that suddenly fails to boot, with code #1.

(On April 19, 2013, was able to restore Windows 7, but the Athlon II CPU wasn't stable at stock clock without a cooling mat!) (Was found dead in November, 2014)

                      Re: incredible CQ56

you got a problem on circuit battery detection.
this is clear obvious since pinnout for bios have a bad result , even for SPI channel you got 0 . now bat circuit protection works along a bunch of transistors that receive info from KBC to activate or not certain gate of does transistors .

and since KBC found a anomaly in this OCP OVP circuit , KBC will not work correctly , making you to not have correct spi values on the bios chip itself .

you got there a pretty nice challenge not very hard , but a patience work , you must get the schematic for you can follow each independent signal /voltage on the battery circuits .
alltough chek that this battery is ok ...

as also you stated , you mention you notice the inductor to get hot , well it will get a bit hot while charging . but if its to hot , defenitly you got prroblem on OCP circuits

if you stick around with this machine on your lab , next week i will be back from vacations , and i can help you out to reach a solution

                      keep up the good work
