Do you know how the data was password protected ? I doubt it's possible though.

The data was originally encrypted with bitlocker then the drive formatted to wipe the drive ? The formatted data is still encrypted.

            1. if it is protected by bitlocker, then there is no way to recover the original data from the encrypted data, unless the owner remembers the key (or password) used to encrypt the drive.
            2. if the owner formatted the hard drive, and haven't done any write operations on the drive, i think the encrypted data can still be recovered from it. Try any UNFORMAT utilities. However, you still need the key the owner used to encrypt the drive to be able to get the unencrypted data.

Look at these reference, it might help you:

              Hi,
I have accidentally formatted the Seagate harddrive, is there any way to unformat the hard drive or any good software to get the data back..

have tried lazesoft data recovery, and I managed to get the data but I cat open any of the recovered file I get an error file type not supported, tried to open the files in mac aswell but same error.
              i will appreciate any help.
              Regards

                Re: WD hardisk data recovery

DO NOT perform any writes to this formatted drive. Use it ONLY as a slave drive in an attempt to recover the lost data.

Then run a tool like this one:

                https://www.easeus.com/ppc/format-re...a-hard%20drive

There are many others on the market but keep testing till the tool can see your data.

Plan B is to seek out the help of the drive manufacturer - they have professional data recovery services but can be $$$ - $1k++ is not uncommon. Best to get a quote.

I can see the data with with 1 or 2 softwares but they are asking for a lot of money, So there is no free software which can be helpful, or cheaper?

Hello, A customer told us that there is a data recovery company that can by pass IMac pro 2020 with t2 chipset GPU to get their data back, I am wondering if that is possible. GPU is shorted and Imac wont boot at all. I informed customers that data are almost impossible to be retrived, and they are upset and think we are BS them. Of course being up in Canada, people like to believe that usa will have a better solution for it, a US data recovery company they searched on google told customer that they could get the data back without needing worry about T2 chip or Imac not working all that, I do not...

Swap nand flash smartphone for data recovery
                      by DoOm86
                      Hello everyone.
I would like to know more about the following topic:
Nand flash on smartphone for data recovery.

I have been reading of people swapping nand flash from a faulty mainboard to another in order to save the data.
But I also read about encrypted data which to be read must been swap also cpu, or nfc or something else where is located the key to make the data being readable.
How does it works? How do I know if data are encrypted or where is the key?

I know there are also very expensive external socket where you can put the nand flash in...

Attempting Data Recovery WD20EARS series HDD Reads as 0 byte drive.
                      by abajor
I was wondering if there is a knowledge base on troubleshooting HDD failures and when it might be viable to try certain repair/recovery techniques.
I recently got a WD20EARS 2TB Drive from a customer in hopes of retrieving data. The drive reads as zero size, I can't hear any head activity but it does appear the platter is spinning I can feel some gyroscopic action picking up the drive.

As a shot it the dark I bought a donor board and swapped the rom chip. Same issue zero byte drive.

I'm assuming that the armature is no longer functional internally so no data can...

                      Apple Macbook A1707 Hard disk
                      by Eleways
                      Hi

I've an Apple macbook A1707 with Hdd defect.

This product don't work with a normal Hard disk, but the hard disk it's a BGA component on the logic board.

                      My question is:
Can i exchange the hard disk, by desolder the bga Hard disk and replacing this?

Can i replace with a different one (es 500 gb instead of 250 gb)

This Macbook has T1 security check.

                      Thanks and best regards

                      Luca
