    HP 8460p no backlight

    Hey folks,
HP 8460p turns on and seems to function as normal with the lack of any backlight. I would assume this is an inverter issue, but there is no inverter daughter board that I see in in the teardown videos, and I don't know how to troubleshoot pins/voltage coming off the MB. Can anyone help me with that? Or is the inverter built into the screen on these?

Is this a screen issue or a motherboard issue?

    Cheers,
    Alex

Ok, I tried a new screen, since it looked like the screen may have had an inverter built onto it, but still no luck. Any idea?

Welp, I finally got some time to fiddle with this, and there's a big ol burned up something on the other side of the MB from where the LVDS plug is. Looks like a mobo swap is in order.
            Thanks for the help guys,

what voltage do you got on the screen connector?
bypass it and that`s it "full brightness" and your on

i`m :O that it still works; clean it and check the voltage on the connector ! you can wire all the voltage and done!

Just cook it! It's already broken.

In this situation I prefer to compare the burned part with the same part of a good motherboard to rebuild the pads and route with copper and epoxy.

That does sound interesting and I've never done it before. Unfortunately, a bunch of the little caps fell off the burned area. I scraped around in it, and the burn goes almost halfway through the board. I'll look at what's on there when I get the new board and see if it's worth replicating.

                  Cheers guys
