All the parts from SUHMS are used, last time i ordered (will be the last time also) i received a shorted ec from them. (One vcc pin was shorted even before powering up - they required me to prove it in dispute ). Buying from aliexpress is a lottery and if you get a new EC that is probably like winning a jackpot....

If the replacement ec is empty then yes but the ones from aliexpress are used and not empty so they might not reprogram itself.

How much current is drawn without battery after power button pressed, any voltages on ram, cpu? Slot ram removed - any changes? Resistances on main coils? RTC battery removed - does it autostart?

The machine should work from battery, the thunderbolt rom will affect only charging and thunderbolt connectivity. You most likely have something else wrong - either corrupt dump from reading onboard with clip or something else.
