need help with my Toshiba l755 backlight

i have a problem with my Toshiba satellite l755 . there's a very dark faint light that i can hardly see the image . when i plugged it to external monitor it is working fine . replaced the lcd cable and replaced the screen itself . still the same problem .. can someone please tell me where could be the problem . i have tested the power and the PF2 fuse they are ok . where is other fuses i can check . i appreciate the help .

p:s it was working fine till it bricked due too bad flash rom then i gave it to someone to reflash the bios . he brought it back working with no backlight .

can reflashing the bios cause this issue ?does the bios has anything to do with the led backlight being so dark .
    thanks

Never heard of bad BIOS stopping backlights but I suppose it's possible depending on how it all works.

Unless he screwed something when he had the thing apart.

You need to specify your motherboard model number so I can look at a schematic and help you out.

i have read online that EC bios control part of the backlight so not sure if is it possible flashing the wrong EC bios can cause the backlight to back out .as i said there is display only you will notice it if you look very closer with a light on .you will notice a very faint image .but still work just fine on external monitor

just my question here , does the EC has anything to do with the backlight ??? i read some post from someone here . he had the same issue as me and a guy told him you either have a faulty dim switch or dead EC ???? so i believe if the EC totally dead the laptop won't boot at all . right ?

EC usually has output that drives the backlight enable circuit. Sometimes just this output of ec is dead, then the laptop will work fine otherwise.
If the schematics is correct, then DISPON signal is not driven by EC in your case

I forgot about the EC. That makes sense, it could affect it

so reprogramming the EC can fix that issue ? or the chip needs to be replaced ?

It would need to be reprogrammed, just like main BIOS. Since you had a bad flash that is possibly the problem.

so the EC and the main bios is only one chip or 2 separate chips ?

Physically separate. That's why you have two different reference designators, U29 and U10. You should be able to find them on the schematic.

also when the backlight very dim (very dark)you can't see it till you put a flash light on the screen . is that a sign of bad EC ????

Just means the backlight is not on. Doesn't tell anything of why. There are many things that could cause the backlight to fail.

EC was suggested as he reprogrammed it, if it does indeed control the backlight it may be wrongly controlling it if it has wrong or corrupt firmware. But I can't say for sure it is the problem.

Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                          Some issues
                                          A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                          Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                          Hi all,

I need the BIOS (bin files) to re-flash the BIOS chips on a toshiba laptop.

Why I am pretty sure I need this to repair?

                                          1) Power supplies seem OK.

                                          2) Battery has been replaced, is charging well ... also not the CMOS battery CR2032, also not OK without RAM, or 1 or the 2 RAM modules (RAMS are OK).

                                          3) Laptop does really rare (seems random things) with the 3 leds (power, net, ...)

                                          4) In the past, when trying to restart 100 times via power button, it was sometimes succeeding, now no more.
                                          ...
