    Macbook Pro disk repair problems

After starting normally I've tried to verify my disk and keep getting the following message:

"This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. Restart your computer, holding down the Command key and the R key until you see the Apple logo. When the OS X Utilities window appears, choose Disk Utility."

When I do complete this function then I restart normally and try to re-verify the disk and get the same message again?

Can someone help me with this, I'd really like to get this thing repaired. It doesn't seem to be hampering performance but I have noticed a little slower running albeit not much.

Sounds like your hard-drive is failing.

Backup your data and pop in a new hard-drive and reinstall Mac OS X.

That's what I thought too but there is literally no other issues present. Also, it does complete the repair process when booted in safe. I'm no expert but couldn't this indicate a software issue?

Really don't want to go through all that until I've exhausted all other possibilities. Any other suggestions?

I am not very trusting of the file system in OSX (HFS+) and the Mac Disk Repair utility. If you can test it outside of the Mac OS with a disk utility for the brand of drive, or something like Drive Fitness Test or at least something to check the SMART status of the drive I'd try that. I've had a couple of OSX drives do things as you describe and worse. I tested them, zero-filled them and used them as NTFS and EXT3 formatted drives with no issues.

I'm not suggesting you zero-fill and reformat at this point but to test the drive better than OSX will.

Thanks! At least there's an alternative. I'll give those a try.

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
            by envym
            Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

            Apple Macbook A1707 Hard disk
            by Eleways
            Hi

I've an Apple macbook A1707 with Hdd defect.

This product don't work with a normal Hard disk, but the hard disk it's a BGA component on the logic board.

            My question is:
Can i exchange the hard disk, by desolder the bga Hard disk and replacing this?

Can i replace with a different one (es 500 gb instead of 250 gb)

This Macbook has T1 security check.

            Thanks and best regards

I just got one MacBook Pro a2442 (M1 Pro) there was small liquid damage.

Board starts normally at 5V and then jumps to 20V but after few seconds USB-C meter restarts (on every port) - sometime 1 or 2 times it's start and doesn't restart.

There was corrosion around UR660, UR630, UR600 but I've checked all CAPS and it looks ok ...

When I connect USB-C meter and check with...

            Macbook 820-3115 Missing hard Disk
            by Instafixx
            Hello,

I have a Macbook 820-3115 with the question mark sign.

            Replaced the cable.
            Tried a New SSD.

            Issue Persists.

Cleaned the and Soldered the Connector of the Hard Disk on the board. It worked once and then again the same.
Went ahead and replaced the connector. Still the same.

What can be at fault here.
