macbook pro A1989 restart when sleep and A1707 restart when shutdown

    Hello all,

I got macbook pro A1989 that has sleep wake failure..always restart when put in sleep mode or close the lid..if i shut down and close the lid there would be no problem at all.. already reinstall the mac os but still has the same problem even restore with DFU mode.

and for macbook pro A1707, this one always restart when i try to shut down..always restart when put in sleep mode.

    can anyone help me? @piernov, @mon2 ?
    thanks before

Has this macbook an original Apple SSD drive or it has another brand of NVMe SSD? If the latter, it could be related to standby or hibernationmode settings (that can be tweaked with pmset command).

        Check voltage level of PCIE_WAKE_L.

Most likely this will be an open-drain pin and is active LOW to WAKE up the host CPU. Respectively, the line will be high impedance for the 'high' state which demands that R1452 be present.

Check that R1452 is attached onto the PCIE_WAKE_L line.

Also check on the voltage on TPAD_KBD_WAKE_L. Consider to remove the trackpad connector to the logic board and test again. You should be able to turn on the logic board with pushbutton @ RE030 (attached).

There are numerous widgets on the logic board that can WAKE up the host. Search for and investigate each "WAKE_L" marked lines to confirm they are ok.

        In the schematic, see:

        TBT_WAKE_L -> QB201 mosfet (level shifter) -> TBT_WAKE_3V3_L --> voltage reading ?

Suspecting that one of these WAKE_L marked lines is parked @ logic low.

My bet is on the trackpad line. Faced numerous faults with the trackpads in recent repairs from small spills, etc.

Hi i was checking the PCIE_WAKE_L for my A1707.
            I am getting 3.15V.

Having this same issue of restart after sleep mode.

Search for the keyword 'wake' inside the schematic for the logic board.

Then measure the voltage to ground of each pin with this name.

If there is a '_L' suffix, then the signal is active LOW. If the pin is LOW, the logic board will wake up.

And vice versa if there is no suffix.

                Update !

There was a problem with one of the rails. Turns out it was a BadCap. Removed it. Issue Resolved.

                Thanks a ton.

                  Hello,

I am looking for the boardview file and the matching schematics (PDF) for the following MacBook Pro:
                  • Model: A1707
                  • 15-inch, Mid 2017
                  • 3.1 GHz Core i7
                  • 16 GB RAM
                  • Radeon Pro 560
                  • 1 TB SSD
                  • Board number: 820-00928-A
I already searched the forum, but so far I haven’t found a matching boardview for this board. In several posts I came across, it was also mentioned that the uploaded files were often incorrect.

                  Thanks in advance!

                  Greetings from Germany...

Hi guys I have a Macbook a1707 with motherboard 820-00281, without liquid damage that behaves strangely, with the battery connected the Macbook does not turn on and the USBC meter stops at 5v in loop, when I disconnect the battery the Macbook turns on and works fine, I have already tried to replace the battery twice without success, as soon as I connect the black cable of the battery the Macbook does not turn on, it stops at 5v and in loop.

                  Macbook A1989 / 820-00850 Restart problem
                  by GfilipeZ
                  Hi,

                  I'm working on a A1989 820-00850 Logic Board.
The customer complained that the machine restarted randomly.
From the analysis I made to the Logic Board, I detected a small corrosion in the IC U7430.
Although the diode values are all correct, I replaced the IC with another one. But the machine kept the same problem.
However, I noticed that whenever I use the Heaven software, the machine restarts after a few seconds. That is, it is enough to have an increase in graphics processing for the machine to restart.

                  Has anyone had a situation...

                  MacBook Pro 2018 A1989 820-00850-A Stuck at 5.00V and 0.150A
                  by MyronViegas
                  Hey guys,

I got a MacBook Pro a1989 820-00850-A dead for repair. The MacBook itself was off for a month or so and it didn't power on. I tested using ammeter and it was stuck on 5v. Opened the machine and found a short on ppbus_g3h, corrosion near the right spkr_amp. removed the spkr_amp and saw short on ppbus_g3h. plugged in to power, boosted to 20v .600A and then back down to .300A. Trackpad was clicking when on .600A but no image etc.

Later, I tried again but it dropped down to 5v and never boosted back to 20V. checked board again and found ppbus_g3h shorted again....

MacBook Pro A1989 820-00850-A not powering on
                  by ErinV
                  Hey everyone!

I have a MacBook Pro A1989 with a 820-00850-A board that recently stopped working. I used it overnight to charge my phone, in the morning it didn't turn on, I assumed flat battery but now won't charge and doesn't start at all.

I have fully dissassembled it, when disconnected the battery reads at 0.012V. Even with the battery disconnected the laptop doesn't boot.

The diode voltages around all 4 CD3215's seem fine.

                  For all CD3215 (UB300, UB400, U3100 and U3200) I read just above 5V on PP20V_USBC_TA_VBUS, 3.3V on PP3V3UPC_TA_LDO, 1.8V...
