    Macbook Pro DFU Restore Issues

I have a 2020 Macbook Pro A2289 and after many attempts managed to get it into DFU mode, using my older 2017 A1706 Macbook Pro (Running Ventura 13.7.8). However, when attempting 'Restore', it fails at step 4 of 4, showing the following error:

    - "The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xA (10)]
    - "The system cannot be restored on this device. Failed to create new state machine for restore [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore - 0xFB1 (4017)]

I had already tried the revive option in Apple Configurator but that also failed. At this point I'm wondering if it is because the other Macbook I am using is on an older MacOS version (Ventura 13.7.8). I can't recall what the OS version of the patient macbook was, but it certainly would have been higher than that.

I'm currently setting up a MacOS Sonoma virtual machine on VMWare Fusion on the working Macbook to try the restore on the later version, but I feel this likely won't work. Can anyone think of any better alternatives? Thank you very much in advance!

I've read somewhere that using an ISPW on Apple Configurator may help, but https://ipsw.me/ doesn't seem to offer that for my A2289 2020 intel based Macbook Pro and I'm not sure what other sources I can trust, if that route is even viable.

Macbook Pro A2338 820-02020 Stuck on RESTORE MODE
    by lab10.haifa
Good day, friends. Got this problem with M1 macbook - it starts, chimes, tries to boot and stuck with a message "support.apple.com/mac/restore"
It works with DFU mode, but it's cannot be restored. With "revive" function - same problem. Internal restore mode doesn't work, as well as Internet Recovery.
There is no damage on the motherboard. No short circuits.
Could it be a NAND problem? (but usually, if NAND is dead - mac simply wouldn't turn on)
    Thanks....

Macbook Air 2020 A2179 Internet Recovery and Battery Issues
    by cheebster
Hello, i have a batch of 10 Macbook Pros A2179 bought from a Costco return wholesaler.

    The 10 of them show the exact same behavior;

They auto power on, to internet recovery spinning globe, fans to 100%.

Power consumption on USB-C port is 0.43a, shuts down as soon as unplugged. Battery doesn't charge at all. However, it boots to 20V on the Ampmeter.

Based on their iBridge versions (4.x and 5.x) these were shelfed for a long time.

All of them power on the same way; 100% fans, shut down as soon as they are unplugged. Removing...

    Hi Masters.

My 1708 EMC3164 macbook have power issues. First it was working fine but a bit slow in booting. Net day i turned it on and it didn't powered on. And i tested with usb meter it suddenly @ 20v it takes 2.6 ampares and cpu gets hot. Then i checked the baord and PPBUS_G3H was short to ground. I injected 1v to it it takes 350ma and cpu gets warm. After opening L7410/20/30 there was inly L7420 line was short then i injected 3v to PPBUS_G3H and it takes 2.5 amps and U7420 got hot and i desolder it. Now after that in the start it takes 0.580 amps and goes to 620-30 mili amps....

Water damaged MacBook Air A1932 AmrestoreErrorDomin Error-9 trying to restore with configurator
    by dbuergi
    Hi all,

this Macbook was stuck at 5v and didn't start because of some water damage. I was able to clean everything and the board started. So i put everything back together and the Macbook seems to boot with 20v, 1,4A and 29W. So i decided a DFU recovery. At 50% of the system repair i get the error massage from the title. Display stays black and no Apple logo. Both repair and recovery don't work.
Is there anything i can do?

MacBook Pro A2251 - 820-01949 Voltage Drop and unkown issues.
    by pb1911nt
    Hello forum,

I'm still relatively new to the world of electrical repairs.

I have a Macbook here that I can't figure out

When the battery is gone, the USB input consumption goes up to 20 V and 0.06A. But it breaks down after about 2-3 seconds and you can also hear a small ticking on the logic board. But I can't pinpoint it exactly.

I removed the logic board and took a few measurements.

But I can't really figure it out.

At first I thought the infamous CD chip was defective - but then of course you read more on the internet...
