    Dell Inspiron 7506 Silver 2n1 - "HELLCAT 15" - No power

Hi everyone, I have an Inspiron 7506 laptop I've had for a few years, and it'd occasionally have a problem where after I'd power it off, it wouldn't turn on again unless I disconnected, drained residual voltage by pressing the power button, and reconnected the battery. It now seems to be occurring every single time I shut down the laptop and attempt to turn it back on again. I have done all the common troubleshooting steps, such as completely disconnecting the battery & CMOS battery and draining the voltage and leaving it for an hour, and I've even replaced the battery. This is definitely not an issue with the battery; the battery connector on the motherboard shows the correct voltage (~19v) during the no power state. The laptop also does not turn on when plugging in an AC power cable with the battery disconnected.

I believe it's likely something to do with a FET not turning off completely and/or something with the power regulation chip. I've done some research, and it seems to be a relatively common problem on the 7000 series line of Inspiron laptops; however, there are very few fixes available. This Reddit post, and more specifically the comment, seemed to describe my exact problem, but their fix did not work for me. For additional context, I've had the laptop for about 3 or 4 years now, and in that time I've replaced the battery and upgraded the RAM & SSD. Physically, there is nothing wrong with the laptop due to damage/drops.

Let me know what I should try or what the next steps will be. I have good general electronics knowledge and access to a good multimeter, oscilloscope, and SMD soldering station, but I'm not experienced with laptop repair specifically. To make it easier, here's the link to the board schematic I found on another Badcaps thread.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
    by PantherDave
    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

    Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

    Dell Inspiron 7506 2-in-1 HELLCAT 19859-1 - No power

    Hi all,

I've had trouble with the power on this device since I got it. It always shut down with no warning and would often fail to power up. Dell's advice has been to disconnect the power and battery, wait, then reconnect and boot. Letting the battery run down completely also helped. I had them come out at one point and they said they replaced the board. This helped for a while but then it just stopped powering on. At this point it's well out of warranty. I missed the chance to get them to come out again because life. Current situation is it shows zero signs of life with both barrel...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

    Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
    Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
    Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...
