  • Feedback on my WSON8 soldering technique

    Hello all,

I just wanted to share something to participate in the forums. I recently soldered some 30 gauge wires to a Winbond WSON8 IC, so I could later read/write it (Bios IC). I didn't want to use hot air because I lacked the air station and the expertise, I read that it could be troublesome for unexperienced users and I could damage the board so I opted doing what it made me feel more confident.

As soon as I noticed the tiny leads I couldn't ignore the that that I could get away with soldering some small wires to it and save myself some extra work.

  • Dell BKD40 LA-D821P Rev.1.0 (A00) - Short at PL4

    Hello all,

    Hope you are well.

I have a Dell laptop that has no power, after some work with a thermal camera I found the cap at PU1400 (circled in white) north of the FAN header was cracked. So removed that and checked the shorts again. Most were gone, but I am see a short on the board side of PL4 Cap next to the DC-In jack.

The cap is showing as shorted. I remove the cap and the pad closest to the DC-in jack in showing M ohms, but the pad closest to the PC1121 resistors, is showing as 000.4 ohms I thought this is the ground pad, but when I looked at the only...

  • Asus G512L - Doesn't turn on

Hello. I got an Asus G512L which doesn't start, from a day to another. I manage to make some measurements on the mother board and got to a an IC ( AYK M16 879 ) witch has 19V on the one of the pins ( i assume is the input ), no voltage on the output coil ( output to gnd = 36.3ohm) and 3,3V on one of the pins ( i assume is the enable pin for the IC). Based on all this investigation, without any datasheet of the IC, i think that the IC (AYK M16 879) is dead. Does anyone has any idea what this IC is or how to proceed with the investigatio/repair ?
I put also some pictures with the IC....

    Vizio D50u-D1 shutting off

When the issue began, the display would shut off and then come back on, maybe after being on for an hour or so. It got worse and worse and now the TV will stay on for no more than a few minutes before shutting off and not coming back on.

I’ve tested it with using internal apps and external devices with WiFi off, so I don’t think it’s a CEC issue (does it with no devices plugged in) or a WiFi board problem (obviously). Firmware hasn’t been updated by Vizio in ages. There’s nothing obviously wrong when I open it up. Any suggestions on what board to replace first or a simple...

  • Why my pc doesnt turn on if i turn off my wall power strip?

Hi everyone, i have an old pc like from 2007, it have an Intel D945GCCR Motherboard, and it survived like 2-3 years of moisture and rust. So what I'm getting at is that I recently replaced a bulging capacitor near the southbridge chipset on this computer. The original capacitor was a KZG 820µF, 6.3V, LOWESR, 105°C, and I replaced it with an Accuon 1000µF, 16V, LOWESR, 105°C. Two days ago, I returned from a trip and had to unplug the power strip my PC was connected to. When I got back and tried to turn on my PC, it simply wouldn't respond. The next day, I disassembled it and tried turning it...

  • Dell Inspiron 7506 Silver 2n1 - "HELLCAT 15" - No power

Hi everyone, I have an Inspiron 7506 laptop I've had for a few years, and it'd occasionally have a problem where after I'd power it off, it wouldn't turn on again unless I disconnected, drained residual voltage by pressing the power button, and reconnected the battery. It now seems to be occurring every single time I shut down the laptop and attempt to turn it back on again. I have done all the common troubleshooting steps, such as completely disconnecting the battery & CMOS battery and draining the voltage and leaving it for an hour, and I've even replaced the battery. This is definitely...

  • Dell G3 3590 SELEK_N18E_MB error 2000-0314

    Hi,
    I have a Dell G3 3590 ( SELEK_N18E_MB 18812-1) and the Nvidia GPU is permanently deactivated following error 2000-0314.
Basically it say the thermistro GPU is out of value (cold start It ready 120°C permanently).
I need help to understand what piece of hardware may have failed and how to replace it as everyhting was working fine and the thermal paste was removed and replaced by PTM7950 properly.
All schematics are available on the forum and if someone could be able to help me and give me direction on what component to check first.
I found THM261 on the back of...

  • BIOS .bin file for ASRock B450M Steel Legend

Hi, I’m looking for a clean, working BIOS .bin dump (16MB) for the ASRock B450M Steel Legend motherboard.

I’ve already tried flashing the official ASRock ROM file via CH341A, but it won’t post — I believe the capsule format is incompatible.

Any BIOS version that supports Ryzen 5 2600 is fine (e.g., P2.30–P3.60).

If anyone has a working board and can dump the BIOS using CH341A or flashrom, I would really appreciate your help.

    Thank you!

  • Denon AVR-X4000 – Fast red blinking after 2nd relay

    Hi everyone,

I’m working on a Denon AVR-X4000 that goes into protection mode (fast red blinking LED) shortly after the second relay click.

According to the service manual, a fast red blinking LED indicates a DC detection (DC_DET) or ASO (abnormal current) fault, meaning the unit is detecting a potentially dangerous condition on the power amp or power supply side.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:
    • Fully opened and cleaned the unit (a lot of dust inside)
    • Removed and visually inspected the AMP board → nothing visibly damaged or burned
    • Testing is done with

In this case to disable onboard ram, Take out R0916 and place a 10K Resistor on R0913.

The configuration would be for N/A:N/A , ID0=1, ID1=0, ID2=1. (Working for me with Hynix 4gb OnBoard Memory, in this case, do not touch other resistors)
