Possbility of data recovery, is it true?

Hello, A customer told us that there is a data recovery company that can by pass IMac pro 2020 with t2 chipset GPU to get their data back, I am wondering if that is possible. GPU is shorted and Imac wont boot at all. I informed customers that data are almost impossible to be retrived, and they are upset and think we are BS them. Of course being up in Canada, people like to believe that usa will have a better solution for it, a US data recovery company they searched on google told customer that they could get the data back without needing worry about T2 chip or Imac not working all that, I do not believe it at all, but just in case, if anyone knows if it is possible or just BS. The GPU is dead for sure on the 2020 Imac pro, shorted with 0oms on its power rail. I understand if GPU can be replaced, then there is data, but by pass GPU or get another Logicboard and by pass T2 .... is that possible to get data?

Thanks for reading and input please

That would make sense, but I think my customer was told they did not have to change anything, and can by pass GPU or the worst would be a new logic board and transfer the ssd over then data would be back.

As far as I can tell, those options are impossible to get data back. but it is just my opinion.

for data transfer i think they need to swap cpu, ssd , t2 chip. it's not an easy task so i assume price is not in the low level....

iMac Pro 2017 A1862 SSD Upgrade & Recovery mode
          by tommy97
          Hi,

After installing old drives now we're having the same problem that the device is in recovery mode. Previously after swap of the SSD iMac worked on the old SSD however after attempt of revive on the new SSD machine stuck in recovery mode, I can go to DFU but the same result with error 4010.

          Any ideas what might've...

Intel iMacs, 3rd party SSD failures and Fusion setups
          by reformatt
I thought I'd throw out some of my personal experiences in the last 12 months with Intel iMacs, 2.5" SATA SSD drives and Fusion drive data recoveries.

As a backgrounder, Apple never fitted a 2.5" SSD's to these iMacs. Apple's SSD option was a system of 32GB NVMe blade drive (NGFF connector) and Seagate 1TB 2.5" HDD, married together in software to become a Fusion drive. Non Fusion systems have just the 1TB Seagate HDD.

So, the most common reason an iMac comes across my bench is because it's either ridiculously slow, or it fails to boot at all. The most...

Chromebook recovery failed - how to fix it
          by volinakis
So I had a Asus C433T Chromebook enrolled and after I modified bios I had to reinstall Chromium. I made a USB recovery stick with Chromebook Recovery Utility but I got "an unexpected error has occurred ..." message. I did try with another USB stick, etc. etc. -all steps found on internet about this issue and nothing worked.
Finally I found a site where they suggested to try with an older image and ... it worked!
          What I did:
          - when “Chrome OS is missing or damaged” message appeared I pressed Tab key and found: read only firmware id: Google_Rammus. xxxxx.xxx.x....

          iMac 27” 2020 Boot issue
          by Stephen
Customer came in for data recovery, came to find out data is soldered on to this iMac (learn something new everyday) this is a 2020 T2 iMac so I was surprised because the iMac Pro has a T2 chip and it isn’t soldered on. Anyways, the iMac boots to Apple logo and then restarts, before it turns off you hear a quarter fan spin then it repeats itself. I decided to do a DFU revive to restore any hardware firmware issues and it was successful in reviving the device however the issue persists in boot looping. It shows the Apple logo for like 40 seconds then turns off and fan spin rinse repeat. I...

          iMac M1 DFU restore issue
          by Stephen
iMac turns on no drops no cracks, tried to DFU Restore the iMac, logo turns on great! however iMac turns itself off and then restarts to the (!) icon and won't post the restore. Tried thunderbolt 3 cable, tried regular USB C cable and nothing.

this is the message it gives me with the error

Unexpected device state 'DFU' expected 'RestoreOS' (Probably forced into DFU mode externally) [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore – 0xFAE (4014)].

Any thoughts what this could be? I will open it up and repair it but I am not 100% sure since this iMac doesn't...
