Are those caps highlighted in green missing? Those are needed for EDP signaling, CG13, CG14, CG15, CG16, CG17, CG18, you won't get a picture without those...

The caps in red are also badly soldered, but unrelated for now

Resistance looks fine on BL_ON (50.5k), now fix those missing caps for EDP signals, your customer sure made a mess on the board

Yes, but what can you do ? Customer is always right. To my understanding he will not bother , to even pay for that service. So most probably will reject the repair and i will keep the laptop or something for labour. So for now , i would say i am repairing it for personal knowledge and gaining experience.

The 'green'eveything is missing , the red is a little bit better...

So most probably i need to order parts for the CG13,CG14 , from aliexpress....

Don't want to blame anyone yet, but that kind of damage could be done either by the customer himself, or "his friend" that will do it for cheap but ends up making it worse
Always a good idea to take pictures before a repair, to cover yourself in case something goes wrong with the customer

maybe he thought that there was a short and ended up removing caps at random, then replaced the LCD cable (or the whole display assembly, from the AMD version), then gave up after making it worse
Or the opposite, the original screen could have cracked (or just didn't show a picture), then he/"his friend" replaced the whole display assembly with one from the AMD E15 gen2, and not realizing his mistake made it worse
I'm making hypotheses here on what happened here

Don't you have electronics components suppliers there, or at least somewhere in the EU?
            Might want to check:
            Farnell
            RS online
            TME.eu
Maybe someone has a recommendation for a supplier that ships to Poland

It's not about blaiming or not. I understand how you said it, but i cannot do anything else. Yeah , for future reference i will keep it in my mind .
Yes, maybe he did something like that . Hypotheses most of the times are correct, i believe either plan a or plan b happened also , nothing else. But it's nice that someone else has the similar hypotheses as me hahah!

Eitherway yea , they exist in europe but they charge too much for shipping a small package when aliexpress has it for 2$
I found also a big book with capacitors just to have it on the side, so i bought also this and i am good, so another 3 weeks of waiting hahahahaha

Get the 0201 and 0402 capacitor sample books, also the resistor books of those sizes
For 0603 and 0805 caps, you don't know the voltage rating on those caps in the books, sometimes you need 10-22uF 25V 0603 or 0805 caps, very common to fail shorted on laptops, best to order those separately as the ones in the books may be rated at a lower voltage

Can't beat free/cheap shipping from AliExpress... For me it's way more expensive to order from Digikey as they'd charge me 100$ flat fee shipping to Peru, on mouser it's 30$ shipping, not worth it for 1$ of caps

Yea ,bought both books as you said before you said it ,same mind

Also about 0603 and 0805 even though it's common i would prefer to get them separate when it's needed rather than going full speed ahead towards it now.

                  Oh , 100$? Sh*t.
For me it's 15$ even for 1 small package and the 'distance' is like next country border ...

I will try to check also Mouser, but i don't expect much.

Macbook Pro A1989 - No image, working fine with external monitor
                      by Madoy104
                      Hi everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro A1989 that was likely exposed to liquid. It doesn't display an image on the built-in screen, but the screen is backlit (you can't see the Apple logo or any other elements when held up to light). The laptop provides 20V and 1.5-2A, and it works fine when I use it with an external monitor. Currently, the connector for the display (J8500) is disconnected. I'm writing to ask for help in diagnosing the issue. I've heard that when the J8500 is exposed to liquid, the processor pin responsible for the display might short-circuit, and I'd like to know...

                      by f-bone
                      Hi guys,

this one seems to work except that there is no image on LCD, only on external via HDMI. I have flashed the bios with a cleanME one and measured voltages at GPU (0.9V) and LVDS connector (LCDVDD_LCD is 19V and DCBATOUT_LCD is 3.3V). I can see the LCD going black after power on but no image. I shed some light with a torch but there is no image or activity at EDP_TX0/1 using the oscilloscope. I also tried a different panel.

                      any ideas are welcome.

                      br,
                      george

the laptop had damage in the area of the kb9542qf2 all sorted and now laptop working and turns on but i have no display

so if i start and connect usb-c display it works otherwise it is giving me the 2red and 7blue

so with the usb-c external monitor is getting to bios and OS

A funny fuse story – Lumix LX100 II
                      by corrize
Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                      The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...
