Hello, I have a problem with starting my laptop. I got a laptop that doesn't start. It turned out that it was flooded with liquid. I removed the corrosion, replaced the damaged elements and the laptop started. Before I understood what the problem was, I uploaded a new BIOS with a clean ME region downloaded from this forum. The laptop started and worked. However, I decided to upload the original BIOS back. I cleared the ME REGION in it and uploaded it to the chip. After this procedure, the laptop stopped starting. It uses 6 watts constantly without any changes. Also, uploading back the BIOS with which it started after repair doesn't help. Is it possible the KBC chip is bricked? I don't have a programmer for KBC systems. Do you have any ideas? Thanks!

KBC firmware is unlikely to be corrupt. Check whether chip is properly soldered and do check for any missing resistors nearby. -

Post the original bios backup in the bios requests forum - https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-requests-only ,and post the laptop serial number (type it please) ,and also post a picture of the barcode sticker on the ram slotComment

Wait on others to comment but from this video, the EC ROM chip is an external part. That is, the EC controller = KB9026Q is the controller and it uses the external Winbond chip to hold the firmware (program). If indeed, this external flash device is corrupted, then a known good EC rom dump should be suitable to apply onto this target flash chip.

This YT video is using the u-Link NT Programming tool and from a quick Aliexpress search, someone is attempting to gouge the buyer @ $3k for this device worth about $5. Suspecting there are many options to reflash this target memory device including the option to remove this flash chip -> program with the device with a low cost tool and then solder it back.
Confirm if you have this flash device on your board like showing in the video when he flips the board over.Comment

Once again i'm saying its not EC bios. EC has a separate flash chip and the ec bios is not pulled from main bios in this case.
Since you only flashed main bios, it has nothing to do with ec bios.
Rather, look carefully at liquid spill area and you may get a clue.Comment

by razor_amdWith ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.
For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.
I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.
This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...-

by grimacelordHello,
I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.
I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.
The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.
Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...-

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.
I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...-

by jbonavitaHi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried
1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...-

by studdy05Hp Probook 450 G7 s# SCD0348W35 had a locked BIOS. Bought BIOS and EC chips off Ebay that were supposed to match this machine - the 450 G7. Flashed in the BIOS on chip i bought using a CH341. BIOS unlocked next boot. Some error to contact HP. Entered BIOS and reset to system defaults and rebooted. Machine worked fine but every cold boot the contact HP message popped and everything else worked as fine. Assumed the error was from EC chip not matching BIOS that i just flashed in. So i flashed in the EC that was supposed to match from the EBay chip i bought and instant brick.
