Please could someone assist. Im having a very strange issue. So i have a Macbook pro that was having screen issues where the screen would glitch and show artifacts etc so i initially thought the screen needed to be replaced so i got a replacement and installed the new screen which was just completely black. i can get a display on an external monitor but i get no display on original glitchy screen anymore and ive tried multiple working screens and they are all blank and ive tried the orignaly glitchy screen on a different macbook and that is also now black. But again it works perfectly on an external display. can anyone shed some light on what else could possibly be the cause of this? thanks

Thanks so much for the reply. It’s a discreet graphics. I haven’t actually checked the connector for corrosion. I just found it strange that if it were the connector then surely the current screen would work on a different machine which it didn’t. I will open it up and have a look under a scope and get the motherboard part number.Comment

by rouninHi everyone,
I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.
🛠 Original Issue
The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.
I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

by mcnamj70My Macbook air 2015 (00165A motherboard) has a strange fault.
When I plug in the charger the laptop immediately switches off.
The battery still charges when off and I can reboot the laptop with the charger connected and all appears fine until I disconnect then reconnect the charger and the problem appears.
Tried resetting PRAM/SMC and even changed the I/O board but problem appears to be on the motherboard so looking for ideas to fault find. -
by twonk9098I have read many forums that state the Macbook Pro 2015 needs / does not need a battery to boot. I'm not convinced as yet which is correct.
The Macbook Pro mid 2015 I have has no battery and do not really want to buy one just to test.
This model has the newer trackpad which is not clickable when turned off.
At the moment, without battery it does turn on with no display (with backlight), no chime and then turns off after 13 seconds. I see this from the power draw on my DTPS.
If I hold the power button whilst connecting the magsafe 2 charger it turns on, again no image but... -
by pcbmaniacSubject: Help Needed: MacBook A1278 (3115) No PPBUS_G3H Issue
Hello everyone,
I'm working on a MacBook A1278 with the 3115 logic board and facing an issue with no PPBUS_G3H voltage. Here's what I've checked so far:- U7000 Measurements:
- Pin 3 has 0V, even though R7012 shows 16.5V from PPDCIN_S5_CHGR.
- Resistors:
- I measured R7010 and R7011 with one leg disconnected, and both tested OK.
Based on these findings, I believe U7000 needs to be replaced. However, I have a related question:- If I also decide to replace the SMC, do I need to order it pre-programmed,

by soflesHello there
I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.
I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.
