    Toshiba makes good laptops, but I really like the layout of that Asus. Really easy to do hardware maintenance on it and take it apart. I wouldn't even consider the Compaq

      Multiple A2442 MacBook Pros 14" with the same charging issues
      by Stephen
      Same problem on all 14" MBP A2442 models we have in stock, all customers had liquid damage, All boards turn on, boards were cleaned professionally as well. Boards hold charge but batteries not charging, all show the same issue. All boards show the ORANGE AMBER light but no charge sound or any charge going in. One customer stated that the battery will charge if the lid is closed and the battery will reach 100%. USB C ports work for DATA and recognize the externals but do not recognize any charge. I have checked PPBUS_AON and we are getting 12 volts without battery, but when battery is...

      Nintendo Switch - Joy Cons won't charge, fan not spinning
      by wyga
      So, I've got the Nintendo Switch on the bench.
      Issue:
      * Won't charge up the joy-cons
      * Fan is not spinning.
      * Battery discharges very quickly
      * Serial number from joy-cons unavailable

      I have located the shorted diode near the cpu fan connector. Apparently that is pretty common issue. Once the diode has been removed the short is gone.

      Apparently it is going to work fine right know without the diode.
      But... I understand that this diode someone of course put there for a reason. Problem is I don't...

      Very old Sanyo OS-CONs. Safe to use?
      by quicknick
      Hi folks,

      Some time ago I got (for very cheap) a bag of 200 Sanyo OS-CON SA series, 220uF/10V, manufactured January 1988. Measured a few of them and the readings were all over the place so I put them in storage.

      Fiddled with them one more time today, to decide if I keep or throw them away, and noticed that strange readings are due to a layer of practically invisible oxide that developed on the leads. Rubbing them just a bit with fine sandpaper or even with the tester probes and they can be tested OK, tried with 10 of them and they mostly measure towards 250uF, with one...

      Nintendo Switch Oled - Joy con charging
      by tommy97
      Hi everyone,

      I'm having an issue with a Nintendo Switch OLED that suffered liquid damage. After a full cleanup and replacing the Joy-Con rails and joysticks, everything was working fine for about a week. However, now the Joy-Cons won't charge or connect again.

      I tested with a second set of Joy-Cons, and the issue persists. Measuring the voltage on the connector shows 3.7V instead of 5V, which I believe should be the correct value.

      Any insights or suggestions on what could be causing this?

      Wanted: Motherboard Suggestions for Newer Build
      by bigbeark
      Currently my best machine is a socket 775 Abit IP35 Pro with Q6600 processor, 8GB Ram and GTX 570 video card. For what I do, this is fine.

      I'm looking to assemble a desktop machine using used components. Or would I be better off to buy a complete used machine, which would likely end up being some off-lease Dell or HP tower or whatever? Looking for a low cost solution. I don't need gaming or video editing power. Looking for durability and no flakiness with the ability to upgrade as needed. I will be running Linux Mint so Windows compatibility does not matter.

      Is socket...
