    CQ61-310EJ No Power

    Hey guys,

got this laptop, with bad contacts on DC jack (didnt power at all finally)

found some corrosion both on charger connector and dc jack (comes with harness of 6 pins).

cleaned them both but with no power at all,
the led on the jack wont ever light.

    tested voltages on ouput pins:

    2 blacks are shorted
    2 reds are shorted

    between yellow to black 18.22v
    between yellow to red 17.55v
    between yellow to white 15.95v

the specs on charger shows 18.5v 3.5a

so i figured the charger and harness are OK,

when the harness is connected got almost nothing on the outputs.

i saw this chip confused to be mosfet SD840S
but by the datasheet its a 2 diode form.

tested between too legs got short,
lifted one leg but still got short bewteen pads,
now between two legs got nothing, so im gussing its fine.

im pretty cluless right now. so any help will be very appriciated.

    Shai.

    Re: CQ61-310EJ No Power

unsolder the bios and see if the light from the power jack its restored.
the board its like g61 like a mirror.
i ahd a problem like that and usually 90% got bios problem.
don`t ask me why but i manage to find the problems here on the forum.
Just cook it! It's already broken.

download schematic of this mobo first and check signals on bios and ene chip to confirm if its bios issue.

by the way... s_henya, do you sell untouched scrap mobos? (when i say untouched, parts are complete, nothing taken from it)

          hey fddizon
          thanks the the reply,

i ruled out the bios chip, i still got a short between 2 pads of the sd804s
and a major voltage drop when the bios chip was out.

          im gussing something else failed,

using a schematic would help, il try to find one but so far no luck...

by the way about dead mobos,
i usually gather them for a while to a pile and sell them to scrap yards for 5$ a kilo.

                  Re: CQ61-310EJ No Power

well i didnt find a solution so i ordered a used mainboard on ebay (a little less than 100$)

                  but i think i made a mistake.

im starting to think that the charger is BAD,

between outer circle (-) and center pin(+) i get 17.52v
between inner circle (-) and center pin(+) i get 17.35v
between outer circle (-) and inner circle(+) i get 0.076v

                  is this reasonable?
i got today a hp probook with charging problems
(wont charge the baterry, replaced to new original battery but won't charge)
                  it has a universal charger
between outer circle and center pin i get 0
between outer circle (-) and inner circle(+) i get 19.37v

so i tested the CQ61 with the universal adaptor there is a light for 3 secs on dc jack.

i think that both of them are faulty.

                  please HELP!

                    Re: CQ61-310EJ No Power

                    The outer circle is GND
                    Inner circle is +V
Center pin is ID (when not connected shows about +V, when connected to mainboard, should be 7-8 V)
When ID voltage is less, machine won't turn on.
You can emulate a smart adapter by connecting a resistor of ~200kOhm from V+ to ID pin.

thank you khaahk, so that means that the original charger was BAD,
(were where you when i started this thred) :-)
                      (stupid charger wasted me hours)

So there is some progress, the charging light now lights!
but still no power when i press the power button.
(without the universal adaptor on battery only)
when i press the power button all 3 lights blinks 3 times

                        usually i`ll start with bios.
i`ll see tomorrow if i got a dump file so you can reprogram and test it.

Maybe you forgot to put memory stick back !

no the laptop wont ever power on
im not talking about power on with black screen
                            anyway the memory is inside.

i will try to get another charger in a couple
                            of hours and report back.
if it wont work i will open it back to check
                            bios voltages

its not a bad investment if you buy another bios from the web.
or maybe you got a spare one

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                  Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
