Re: Ps3 fat Cechk04 no power

So thats pretty much ylod... You will need to replace the NEC / tokin caps/// there are 8 on each side.. they are above the cpu and the rsx on each side of the board... This was really tricky for me to do first time , but i got the hang of it... its big capacitors you cannot miss them... look up NEC/ Tokin Cap replacement on google ... and you will find plenty of answers...the way i did it , is take a sharp screwdriver(the one with the pointy tip) and use alot of hot air on them and SLOWLY pry them off ... Keep the air on the pads to clean them up... Be very careful if you are forcing , because you might drive the screwdriver when they pop off and damage something else... but i had 100% success rate with this so dont lose hope. Replace 2 caps and check , and repeat untill the ps3 starts working. There is probably a disk inside the tray too.
    good luck!

It might not be that this is the issue tho... but im pretty sure it is... check the voltages first on the main line just in case... it might not be the ylod !

unlikely, i think the boards are made in korea by Asus.

here is a pdf of what there is to find.
you need to replace them with 4 tantalum or polymer 330uf caps

it would be worth trying to find which is shorted with a low-ohms meter or maybe an esr tester given the number of them!

Dont bother testing ... They will always show as very low resistance or a short... you should get around 3 or 5 ohms or something like that ... but it doesnt matter... 1 Cap is equivalent of 1200uF ,you can go a bit higher then that... like 1300uF each. Its gonna be unusually difficult ... you'll see when you try

that's NOT the caps causing that - bad caps would stop it running.
i dont know about demo-mode, not heard of it.
but the fan is a clue that the temps are too high - did you use silver or carbon based paste when you re-assembled it?

V1 thermal compound is what i used on the two heat sinks, which is the right paste to use and there are you tube videos about demo mode,i wanted to update it and wouldnt because it is in demo mode

i'll have to look demo mode up.

hopefully so you can hack it with custom firmware like "Rebug"

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                            Hi guys
I have a B&O Omen laptop here. It has very specific fault symptoms, hopefully someone can give me some guidance

If I plug in a known good 180W third party charger the little LED next to the power jack on the laptop flashes red once, but the laptop will not start. It will not flash red again unless you unplug and reconnect the power.

If I remove the main battery (I can't see a cmos battery) then the led by the jack does not flash when I plug in the adapter, but if I press the power on button with adapter attached it flashes once white every time...

Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

LG 39ln540v - red light flashes twice, no power to LED driver?

                                            Hi there,

I've got a 39" LG 39LN540V that's just spontaneously stopped working! The symptoms are - when I plug it in, the red light will flash on twice, then go out, there's no visible picture, and I couldn't see anything using a torch on the panel either. If I press the power button (either remote or on TV), the red light comes on continuously. If I press power again, the red light flashes twice.

The TV is using a power board EAX64905301. I've attached a diagram of the power output, I've tested the voltages with a multimeter and I'm getting the following:
                                            ...
