Good morning everyone, I'm currently working on doing data recovery on a Patriot Xporter XT Boost 32 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, model number:PEF32GUSB. The end of the USB stick was broken when the owner dropped a heavy object on it while it was plugged into the computer tower. I would normally just purchase a replacement of the exact same model and just replace the controller and NAND chips but this USB was discontinued and hard to come by. I'm hoping someone has access to a schematic of this so i can just rebuild the front section with a breadboard. Or if any of you know of any other USB sticks that use the same chipset and configuration that i can do the controller/NAND swap with that would also help me out a bunch.

Re: USB stick data recovery
That was what i first attempted months ago. There are some missing or misplaced caps that I tried replacing from another usb of a different model and now I have no reference to go off of. Also I believe there may be a short or open on the traces sandwiched inside the pcb. At this point I would rather know for certain where the signals are going than to guess and possibly corrupt the data.Comment

Re: USB stick data recovery
I did wonder looking at the pads. Is it one of these ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Patriot-Xpo...B/380925371589Comment

EDIT: yes its 8GB but liely to have same layoutComment

Re: USB stick data recovery
That is the 8GB version yes and I do have that one currently. There are obvious differences in the placement of certain caps and resistors on each that I'm uncertain of what their function is. It would be more than just replacing the nand and controller chip. it would be around 8 or so other components being swapped around to make them matchComment

Re: USB stick data recovery
I would at least check the resistance between Power pad and Gnd pad, then check the resistance of those MLCC to see if any of them shorted out due to crack when the board got damaged.Never stop learning

by DoOm86Hello everyone.
I would like to know more about the following topic:
Nand flash on smartphone for data recovery.
I have been reading of people swapping nand flash from a faulty mainboard to another in order to save the data.
But I also read about encrypted data which to be read must been swap also cpu, or nfc or something else where is located the key to make the data being readable.
How does it works? How do I know if data are encrypted or where is the key?
I know there are also very expensive external socket where you can put the nand flash in...08-20-2023, 07:10 AM -
by traxformaniaHello,
I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).
But today it's not accepting my password. I'm %100 sure i'm entering the correct password.
I'm trying to reset my bios without success.
I tried :
-I removed the BIOS battery and main battery. Waited for a long time but it didn't work. They already stated in the user manual that the password will not be reset even if the batteries... -
by DynaxSCHi,
I discovered a strange behaviour of GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2 board.
General test conditions:
- Tested with Core i5 6500 and Core I7 6700K - no difference
- Default BIOS settings, but tried also altering several memory setting - does not change anything
What is wrong:
With BIOS F1 and F2 the board normally POST's and boots to Windows 11 with 2 x Patriot Viper Steel PVS416G440C9K RAM (4400MHZ, Samsung B-Die chips)
When BIOS upgraded to anything above F2 (ie. F20-F27b) the board POST stucks after 3 Debug Codes on Code C2... -
by Spider1211Hey guys, I have an iPhone XS which came in as dead. The phone was not worked on before (I was the first to open it). After diagnosis (Splitting board, etc) it's confirmed to have a shorted PP2v63_NAND line.
Removed the NAND flash and short is gone on the board. Measuring directly on the NAND, there is about 2 to 15ohm to ground.
Is there anyway of backing up data externally in such cases (Client has some very important files and no back ups)? -
by ezeniaHello,
Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.
So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.
I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,... - Loading...
