Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
The direct links to imgur are still there for the inline pictures.
I always do it like that: just attach the linked picture without changing the link itself.
(As long as it points to a https source and actually exists that is).

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
Just to make sure, I did try viewing this thread on different PCs and with different browsers, since I know my Opera 12 can act a bit iffy with newer sites and/or externally linked photos... but that wasn't the case this time. Whatever was going on cleared up after a few days and I was able to view the images before Per uploaded them to the forums.
I noticed the page also loaded much faster this time.Leave a comment:

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
I still don't see half of the images from the offsite links, but the one that did load up eventually... yep 100% fake indeed.
jayjr1105, can you please attach images with the forum's built in attachment tool? (click "Post Reply" or "Go Advanced", then click on the "Manage Attachments" below the message prompt.) Someone's going to view this thread a few years from now, and I bet you most of the off-site images will be gone.
But I did attach all pictures last weekend so you can see them all.Leave a comment:

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
What brand officially uses the concentric rings? Seems fairly common as a fake.
BTW I have a bunch of the fake WG Sanyos 2200uF 10V that look just like the 3300uF 6.3V units above, concentric rings and X and all. What really annoys me about fakes is that pretty much all leak at the rated voltage...
Stock photo not my actual cap but the bungs on some looked like this https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....1E3hWoeCmL.jpgLast edited by jayjr1105; 09-17-2020, 01:09 PM.Leave a comment:

KZE -> very very reliable
I would leave them.

I did post some images last week using my screenshot tool (lightshot) and I can confirm it doesn't play nice with hosting images for other websites. I have since started using imgur which should show all my images. Which ones can you not see?Leave a comment:

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
What's the story on these green KZE's? XBOX is a 1.0 and a very early if not first batch.
They look okay but wasn't sure if these were capacitor plague era or not.

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
Yea 100% fake, Sanyo / Suncon do not use bungs with concentric rings.
And only some larger caps have the X vent, 10mm caps have K type vents.Leave a comment:

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
Nevermind about them being real. They are 100% fake. Further ESR testing shows them between .03 and 0.6 ESR (tested all of them) and the datasheet specifies .012 max at 100KHz 20c
Similar caps new and old test accurately around .02 to .01

Bonus pic, cut the naked one open with a razor blade. Wound very tight with many many layers. Had good moisture. If it's a fake it's not a bad one.

I can't see those IMGUR external pictures. Can you please attach images using the forum's built-in feature? Online image hosting websites go up and down all the time, and I've seen it far too many times where after a while, a thread that is meant to have pictures has none.Last edited by momaka; 09-12-2020, 12:27 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
Anyway, here are the 3300uf Sanyo WG's. Probably fake, you tell me.
https://imgur.com/gallery/y1vqqhO
I did remove the label from one of the Sanyo's to find a vertical scratch, usually indicating a fake but it tested right at 3300uf with 0.01 ESRLeave a comment:

I took inventory of the caps on it and ordered everything, minus the Mains filter cap everything is getting replaced. My Ali poly's are taking forever to come in so the PSU is getting electrolytic'sLeave a comment:

Re: Original Xbox Replacement Caps
shipping can be selected and is often 1-2weeks
they arent counterfeit, they are simply obtained in bulk - think about where all the pcb factories are!!
besides, they dont state the make in the add - and china makes a lot of poly's
the reality is that in the west we have been robbed for decades by suppliers.
i buy 100 high grade leds for about $2 - the western scumbags would price the same parts at 20-30c each!!
it's easy to see how digikey,RS, etc got so big!!
I am not trying to be obnoxious so please do not take it that way
This is the reason I do not buy a lot of items from site like this because I really do not know
I have the same problem with EBay sometimes
I go with the premise that the majority of items are
Here is a story
I bought a engraver than has a Arduino Nano Controller Board that is a nock off
The only reason I know this is when I went to there to get site to get drivers and look at there Nano board I noticed that the ones I have are a little different so I researched it a little bit and found out that are a lot of nock offs out there but that not say that they work any different
And yes they are lot cheaper in price
The question is how do you now what good and what not good at all
Capacitors are a perfect example of what I am talking about the really good quality ones and what is garbageLast edited by sam_sam_sam; 08-28-2020, 10:02 AM.Leave a comment:

by nick3092I recently acquired a set of Bose Roomate speakers from the mid to late 80's. Basically the right speaker cabinet is completely passive, and the left one has the power transformer and amplifier circuit in it. Out of curiosity, I opened it up to see what the circuit looked like. Looks like they used all Nichicon VX (2x 4700uF/16v for smoothing off the bridge rectifier), a couple random Nichicon SE series sprinkled on the board, and what really caught my eye - 2 yellow sleeved Nichicon caps (both 1uF/50v with no real series marking. Below are pictures of the caps. The only thing not shown in these...

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

Howdy folks,
The GX260 strikes again, I just now noticed that a bunch of smaller caps on the motherboard are bad.
There's no indication of what series these are, but they have the same color wrap as the HM series. They're rated at 22uf and 25v and about 5mm x 6.5mm. The only other markings are the temperature rating (105 degrees Celsius) and what I assume is a date code - A236. The data sheet for the HM series doesn't include caps with these ratings. I've attached some images of the caps themselves and where they are/were on the motherboard.
Does anyone...-

by spike93Hi everyone,
I'm probably going to ask a very noob question but after many readings and videos I'm still unsure on the answer.
I've broken one of the caps around the gpu of an xbox 360 by overheating it. In the forum I've found this thread where the user had exactly my situation (same console version and same broken caps): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24983
The difference is that I've broken only one of the Rubycon caps (or at least that's what I can tell from a visual inspection). Now I'm planning to use a solid capacitor as replacement,... -
by bulkchart32i ordered a lot of caps from digikey to repair my xboxs. one thing i ordered was 50NXA10MEFC5X11-ND caps and i think they are not polarized. will this cause any kind of a problem? i really don't want to order new caps just because of this.
