    Re: Bfg Bfgrnf4u

From what I could see in that picture, in the first one I saw some small fujiyuu's to the left, the big one in the middle looks like a fujiyuu, but had the same style font as asia-x, and fujiyuu dosen't have a A after the I, so it must be. The one next to it is a teapo.

You should recap it or get a newer, more reputable power supply.

      Re: Bfg Bfgrnf4u

I put in a new power supply but am having the same response, which is no beeps. The fans come on. The hardrive light comes on and stays solid and that is were it sits.
If I diconnect the hardrive before turning the system on, then all I get are the cpu and chipset fans running.

By the way. Thanks for all the help so far.

Did you check the CMOS battery?

          Tried to reset the BIOS?

In my opinion BFG isn't so bad, it depends on the product that you buy from them.

I had a BFG NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 256MB AGP 8X video card back then, factory overclocked to 290MHz (the FX 5500's stock speed is 270MHz). It had green 8mm Taicon 1000uf 6.3V caps. Those caps were still good, but I decided to replace all of the Taicon caps with Nichicon HE series 1000uf 6.3V 8mm caps. It's been retired from my own use a long time ago, but I still have it and it still works great.

Also, its stock fan/heatsink was replaced with a slightly larger and better looking fan/heatsink from a dead XFX NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 video card.

Use BFG if you want to. I don't need the extra trouble.
I have enough to do already.

Taicon is affiliated with Nichicon so for all we know your old caps and your new caps came out of the same factory.

Taicon -labeled- caps don't necessarily get [or don't -always- get] Jap' procured Aluminum and electrolyte as specified by Nichicon for the Nichicon branded caps which is why Taicon isn't as consistent or reliable as Nichicon. Presumably, when they -can-, Taicon will use the 'good stuff' in their own branded caps, so, Taicon can be assumed to have good runs and bad runs of caps. Problem is at our end there is no way to know which you got. [Unless they fail of course.]

Interesting, teapo has a pdf you can download that shows you comparable series from other manufactures to their series.

They have nichicon, rubycon, panasonic, NCC, capxon, ost, lelon, ltec, elite, elna, and samxon.

                                  Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem with a rather old board, a Chaintech Apogee 7VJL.

                                  The pc setup is:

                                  - Athlon XP 3000+ (175x13)
                                  - 3x 512MB Corsair XMS PRO @350MHz

                                  - Levicom VP550 (with an acrylic top, is actually fairly decent and recapped
on the secondary side with Panasonic caps)
                                  - Club3D Theatron sound card
                                  - USB 2.0 card with ALi chipset

                                  - 2x CD/DVD Combo drive
                                  - 1x Floppy drive

Hey guys, I just picked up an old Athlon motherboard (Chaintech 7AJA2) to build a vintage PC system around and noticed it had a leaking cap and a few others that appear to be bulging

It does boot up fine though, just finished installing Windows XP and it ran through a few 3dfx demos successfully (using a Voodoo3 3000 AGP card) but it does seem to have issues when I have more than one stick of RAM installed, should I also change out the little squat capacitors that are around the DIMM slots even though they appear fine?

                                  Hi,

I got this old Chaintech Volari V3 128MB AGP video card, and it has 6 TEAPO 1200uf 6.3V SC caps on it. None of them are bad yet, but this is a preemptive recapping that Topcat recommends. The problem is, that when I try to desolder the old cap out with my soldering iron, the positive lead comes out fine, but the negative is stuck in there that I couldn't get it out. I tried wiggling the cap out of the negative hole with the soldering iron touching the lead's little solder area, but the lead from the cap broke, leaving a piece of its lead stuck in the video card, since the lead...

HardOCP Seasonic S12 II 500w PSU Review
                                  by Per Hansson
To say that Seasonic makes good PSU's is an understatement, I really like their regular S12 and this one only improves upon it.
Rubycon 400v bulk cap and Nippon Chemi-Con for the secondary side, plus one solid cap on the +12v rail (I think it's an NCC too but difficult to make out.) That rounds up their excellent choices of capacitors.
It actually performed better than Seasonics own specs, which in the PSU world is pretty much unheard of. Head over to Hardocp to read their review of it.

                                  Re-Badged Fuhjyyu?
                                  by c_hegge
I removed these Yihcon caps from a K-Mex 450W PSU and replaced them with Panny FJ and Chemi-con KZE. They look very similar to the single Fuhjyyu that was also in this PSU and the Fuhjyyu caps I have removed from Antec PSUs. Do you guys think that they are re-badged Fuhjyyu caps?...
