ABIT boards seem good these days

I know this obvious, but I thought I'd post anyhow.

The last two AI7 boards I've had, one of them was United chemi-con & Rubycon, and the newest was all Rubycon.

It seems they've kept good to their word still, which is good. It'll only do them well in the long run!

Cheaper to do it right the first time...RMA and class action lawsuits will drive down the earnings of the company and make the shareholders VERY mad!

      Not so sure about how "good" they really are. Got a cheapo KN8 Ultra (kind of a temporary measure because I needed a mobo with PCI-Express 16x slot) and it is full of TEAPOs and OSTs; the mobo is the revision 1.1 and it seems that they've really cheaped out - the picture on abit.com.tw seems to be from revision 1.1 which had better caps; while googling I found other users who bought this mobo or KN8 SLI and found it full of OSTs and TEAPOs;

Well, the VRM caps are either Panasonic or Samxon, anyway. And it could be a lot worse that Teapo (getting better) or OST (not great, but OK).
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!

That's exactly what I wanted to ask ... I couldn't identify the VRM caps and I don't have the pics with them on this PC

They've got T-vents, so they're made by or for Panasonic. Some Samxon caps have these too. Panasonic (Matsushita) are good caps, Samxon are in evaluation but also seem to be. The logo on them is most likely an M in a square?

From what I can rember they do have an M in a rectangle/square logo; hopefully the mobo will be ok with my passive cooling

Re: ABIT boards seem good these days

I found a pic where the caps from the VRM can be seen

                  To view the full-sized pic (~2.2MB / 2500 x 2000) : full sized pic

It seems that it is writtend 5DIIGA on them. I don't have another one to show the other side of the caps as well

So, anyone know what caps are those ?

They appear to be Matsushita (Panasonic)... which would be good.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
                      by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Apple M1 Boards & Exclamatory Error?
                      by ugamazing
We've now created a stack of 10 boards that have the same issue, which we suspect to be CPU-related. The issue is very simple--the board will not boot to anything, only showing the exclamatory sign inside a circle. No amount of DFU/restore, wipe/erase, etc, will resolve the issue. No boards have physical damage. We went ahead and replaced the SSD nands on two boards (one 02020, one 02016) and the issue remained exactly the same. We are considering replacing the CPU on one of the boards using a locked CPU, just so we can see if it resolves the issue.

Has anyone else run into this...

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING - M.2_2 port not working correctly with SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD
                      by DynaxSC
                      Hi,

I have an really very weired issue with ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING.

Some NVME (PCIe) SSD's are not working correctly in the second M.2 socket. An example of it is the SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD.
Some other NVME (I have only smaller ones) disk do work without any problem, also SAMSUNG disks, eg an MZVPV128HDGM-0000.

The behaviour is also really very strange, i.e.:
                      • The disk shows always up in BIOS - so it is recognized, so far so good
                      • POST-ing with this disk with fresh Windows 24H2 installation (done in the M.2_1 socket) in the M.2_2 socket
                      ...
