My heating pad has a four position switch. The settings are as follows: Off, Low, Medium and High. Now off = off, Low = High, Medium = Low, and High = off. The control unit is screwed together so I can take it apart, All of my tools are over at my Linthicum house so I can't take the unit apart just yet. The A/C power cord from the control unit to the wall has two wires in it. The cord for the pad comes from the control unit to the pad. It has three wires in it. What do guys think may have died in the control unit?

Re: Heating Pad Problem
I repaired a simular one of these, (cant tell by your picture which is of the back of the control) The wires going to the blanket were shorted (a dog chewed the wires) There was a fuse and the triac was shorted in the control, replacing both repaired the unit. This one was a sunbeam control. -

by valvashonYesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.
Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting... -

by edugimenoHi! I was given this board. Its supposed to be a heating controller. It can be programmed over othernet from a computer, and can manage different outputs via a "BUS" connector (there's suppossedly an external module where this BUS wires enter with some relay outputs that power on/off heating valves for different rooms
The owner stated something like "I reversed the polarity and although the manual states that's its made to withstand reverse polarity, and would wanr the used onscreen, it ended up broken and would say "shortcut in output" all the time, or something... -
I just acquired this portable aircon, history unknown. Its behaviour is quite strange:
- When turned on and placed into cooling mode, the upper fan (cold air out) just spins slowly. The compressor and lower fan do not run.
- If the device is then placed into heating mode and then back into cooling mode, the lower fan and compressor kick in and start cooling, but the upper fan still only spins slowly.
- If the device is placed into fan-only mode, the upper fan does not respond to low/medium/high speed toggles - just keeps running slowly.
- Display and buttons all behave normally aside from the

by Peter_1402Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
1. Soldering iron works great
2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude... - Loading...
