    Heating Pad Problem

My heating pad has a four position switch. The settings are as follows: Off, Low, Medium and High. Now off = off, Low = High, Medium = Low, and High = off. The control unit is screwed together so I can take it apart, All of my tools are over at my Linthicum house so I can't take the unit apart just yet. The A/C power cord from the control unit to the wall has two wires in it. The cord for the pad comes from the control unit to the pad. It has three wires in it. What do guys think may have died in the control unit?

    Re: Heating Pad Problem

I repaired a simular one of these, (cant tell by your picture which is of the back of the control) The wires going to the blanket were shorted (a dog chewed the wires) There was a fuse and the triac was shorted in the control, replacing both repaired the unit. This one was a sunbeam control.

        Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
        by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Thermozyklus ZE5 Heating Controller. Bus error
        by edugimeno
Hi! I was given this board. Its supposed to be a heating controller. It can be programmed over othernet from a computer, and can manage different outputs via a "BUS" connector (there's suppossedly an external module where this BUS wires enter with some relay outputs that power on/off heating valves for different rooms

The owner stated something like "I reversed the polarity and although the manual states that's its made to withstand reverse polarity, and would wanr the used onscreen, it ended up broken and would say "shortcut in output" all the time, or something...

        Understanding air conditioner PSU logic
        by Gjackson
        Hi all,

I have an air conditioner outdoor control board that I'm trying to understand how it functions. In short, the board takes in 240VAC and splits it into 4 other wires, 2 of these go to power the indoor unit and another 2 go to power the outdoor unit module board. the 310VDC capacitor bank on the outdoor control board get charged up from a rectifier on the outdoor module board. Now what I can't wrap my mind around is the fact that there is a relay in between the 2 mains wires that go from the outdoor control board to the outdoor module board which is normally open, what this...
