    MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)

I have one of these mother boards in an HP Pavilion p7-1400. I have issues with windows having a Bad_Pool_Caller. However the motherboard seems to have hardware issues.
It does not see the DVD drive nor does it boot from a Knopptix live DVD. When I attempted to run a full system restore the computer states something along the line of hard drive is locked. I tried to use a USB DVD drive as a boot device without success.
I've removed all peripherals to no effect. Swapping the memory did nothing either. Clearing the BIOS with the jumper had no effect. I did check the power supply and the voltages look ok.
The only remaining step I have not performed is a power supply swap.
Have there been any issues with these? Haven't found anything online.

Sounds like the HDD may have a bad board. (bad PCB)
Good luck with the HDD being usable again, if true!

There's a chance that the HDD requires a board swap.

Wrong. The PC won't boot from a DVD either, and it looks like the HDD is detected and at least partially readable. Definitely not a bad HDD controller board.

IMO, the issue is more likely to be with the motherboard.

It may indeed be a bad onboard ATA controller or southbridge, like on an early Pentium motherboard I tried to get going one time...

Only mentioned the HDD, because I had an issue where MHDD didn't detect squat for problems, but the Windows installer will error out or it will appear that it can make it, but on reboot, the Windows loader gives an error.

On the motherboard, maybe, but it's definitely not the HDD itself. If the PC won't boot from a DVD disc (ie. a completely different drive), it's not the HDD at fault.

I'm planning to try another power supply and then suspect the motherboard. I need to test the DVD drive and HDD on another computer (including their cables).

I just had to replace the optical drive on the eMachines T3516A, because it would do its thing, but then the BIOS goes back to the message telling me to insert a boot disk.

Honestly I think there's about a 99% chance it's the DVD drive gone bad, at least for that part of the problem anyway. I very rarely ever see the motherboard's controller go bad in such a way that gives that symptom.

Nintendo Switch Oled HEG-001: Second-Stage Boot Failure
                  by privato89
                  Hello everyone,

I'm facing an issue with a HEG-001 motherboard that is unable to complete the Second-Stage Boot. I'd like to start directly with my conclusion, which is the decision to replace the MAX77621AEWI chip, and understand if it could be a correct evaluation.

Before I dive into the process that led me to this decision, I want to mention that I have a fully equipped lab where I can perform any kind of tests.

                  Let's begin:

Following some guides online, I tried to understand how the Boot phase of the Nintendo Switch works, and what are the...

Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
                  by hinisa
I'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.

When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.

After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:

Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either it freezes during...

Asus UX3402 / Q409Z - No sound, no TPM, Boot issues: Bios flash?
                  by i19
                  Hi
I got an Asus UX3402 / Q409Z and after a BSOD I lost sound, tpm 2.0, and if it turns off it can take HOURS before I can boot again.

Reading here and on reddit I figured its a BIOS issue, and that reflashing it may fix the problem.

I want to use an CH341A (new model with 3.3v) to flash it.

My problem is that I'm not sure if the SOIC8/SOP8 clips will attach to the chip and hold properly? (haven't opened my laptop yet, I'm basing this assumption on a picture from the same thread I attached).

Any tips on how to connect to it? Maybe something...

WD Sentinel DS5100 (NAS) boot issues
                  by DeanWy
                  Hi all,

I have a Western Digital Sentinel DS5100 NAS system which has stopped working. It has dual BIOS. I bought the system second hand with an already broken primary BIOS (it rebooted multiple times until second BIOS was used).

It worked until recently. The system was idle in Windows Server 2012 and a BSOD occurred, I think it was 'critical process died'. Thereafter it didn't boot, it just sat there with no video output and fan speed at 100% (there's a proprietary Windows driver by WD which controls the fan, outside of that it always runs at 100%).

                  There...
