MS-6309 - someone did "great" job

This is MSI MS-6309. The caps were probably bad and someone did really great job replacing them...
Two Tayeh and one Teapo - they're angled because of bad soldering (see below).

    Another Teapo, great soldering...

    Great soldering...

    Great soldering...

    More great soldering...

    And even more...

    Simply wonderful job

    Looks much better with Rubycons

    And soldering too.

And it even works - oh, it's MAXDATA OEM board

My testing CPU, RAM, HDD and CD-ROM drive

It needs some more work - the CPU fan does not spin and I'll also try original MSI BIOS.

This small SMD transistor (marked 2F which means MMBT2907A) was bad. Great place for soldering

        Interesting find Rainbow,

Inglorious soldering aside - you're saying that someone used Tayeh to recap the board?

Judging from personal experience and what I've seen/read, those are caps that make OST look top-notch.

Someone probably used Tayeh and Teapo caps probably from another board. Soldering was so bad that they came out when pulled by hand. I used caps from another board too - but Rubycons Original caps were probably 2700uF.

I'm surprised it even works at all, after that incredibly fucked-up recap. Maybe the bad SMT transistor is causing the CPUfan to not spin?
            The great capacitor showdown!

Luckily, no traces were destroyed. CPU fan works after replacing that transistor (that black mark on the ATX connector is from soldering, not from burning transistor - it was visibly OK, just half-shorted). I also flashed original MSI BIOS and it works fine. The PCB is same as MSI original boards, only some pin connectors are missing (like additional USB).

Another one today - this time it came with 4 caps removed (and no attempts to recap) - so I only soldered 4 Chemicons 3300uF there. But all the small 1000uF caps were Chhsi. Two of them looked very slightly bulged so I replaced them all with Chemicons (and two 470uF too).

Two more of these boards - this time full of Chhsi crap. The big 2700uF ones were bulged and leaking. Some of the 1000uF ones were just very slightly bulged - replaced them all, many of them had increased ESR with no visual signs. Replaced also two 470uF (so there are no Chhsi left) and two 1500uF Teapos (although they had completely flat tops and tested OK - just to be sure).

                    you are not done yet.
iirc its a 6309 i just recapped and set up with a p3s 1.4 for one of my programmer boxes.
made ugly noises thru the onboard sound.
all the 10@16 sm caps were open.

I know they go often bad on MSI boards - this time they tested OK on ESR meter (~10ohms for 10uF) so I left them there.

cannot accurately check in circut.i pulled all of them and all were >99 ohms on the dick smith kit.

It worked for me on some other MSI boards. Not for all caps but for some - e.g. those on audio output.
