    Abit IC7-MAX 3 bad caps

I have an ABit IC7-MAX3 motherboard that recently became useless due to swelling United Chemi KZG caps which are 1000uf 10v 8mm x 16mm and I replaced them with something off an old board, same capacitance and voltage just a shorter can and I can't tell you who they are made buy they just have a "A" in a square on the side and the board posts again but I want to replace them with new caps so I am asking for recommendations here. I replaced 5 of these and I believe there is one or two more on the board.

So what caps should I use?

    Thanks for the help.

I would use these to replace them:

Any opinion on Panasonic FM Series caps? The specs are almost identical to the original caps that were in there.

No, Panasonic FM has too high an ESR. You can use Panasonic FJ/FL however.

Ok so based on whats available here you only recommend the Samxon, When you look at the Rubycon caps here it refers you to a Nichicon cap at 6.3v and I don't think that is correct shouldn't it be the same voltage or more?

I just want to make sure I get something that will not blow up in a few months and make my board last until I finally upgrade. The originals parts lasted 6 years or so. I think they outlived their expected lifetime being that they are in an Abit board.

The only thing that's sold here that's suitable is the Samxon. The Nichicon HM are the correct series, but as you can see, the voltage is too low.

No, the voltage on topcat's HMs is not too low at all. 10v caps can always be replaced with 6.3v ones on a PC motherbaord. they will only get 5v at the most

Quite correct and they would work just fine. Their ESR is only 0.002Ω higher than the originals and their ripple handling is a bit higher by 70mA.

But, the HM's are a little bit better than the originals with ESR at 0.003Ω lower and the ripple at the same level as the FM's.

Can you post a pic of the board or take the one I attached and indicate which caps these are?

I indicated the caps with yellow arrows, there is only one more United-Chemicon cap left and its the one between the ram banks on the right side of the board. I have another of the frankenstein cap I robbed from an old board but since I will be replacing all of them again with the appropriate parts I will not be changing it yet as it isn't swollen. The board is working fine it takes a few seconds more to get the initial beep when you turn it on. I just assume its because these caps are not quite the exact match. Included are pic of the Frankencap and the original cap (the worst of the five)

                      According to: http://capacitor.web.fc2.com/

                      that's: http://www.arktwn.com.tw/ and http://www.arktwn.com.tw/table.htm

Just need the series. BUT, who cares? You're going to put better than that on there anyway

Hopefully that's the last of the KZG on the board. What brand and series are under the "shield" near the CPU? (curiosity)

I have a BioStar G41-M7 mobo where the switching voltage regulator for the DDR2 memory was made with three OST brand 1,000uF caps, two of them rated for 6.3V, the other for 10V, and apparently it's being fed 4.8VDC. Why would BioStar use a 10V cap if 6.3V would have worked?

                            Cost and better specs.

                            Example:

                            UCC KZE - 1,000uF - 10mm diameter - height not an issue

                            6.3v - 1.03A - 53mΩ = 48¢
                            10v - 1.43A - 38mΩ = 45¢

In a bank of them, you save 1 cap out of every 4 in ESR in the 10v units.

                            .

One could say it would be the same reason that this site exists in the first place, buy cheaper parts to lower production costs no matter if the part is from the actual manufacturer or not. Good thing Abit doesn't make motherboards anymore, I am two for two on bad caps in their crap.

I sourced some Nichicon HM series 1000uf 10V locally and everything is peachy keen again in my computer.. Thanks for all the assistance, Now on to repairing the RMA'd KT7-RAID board (All teapo caps one leaking) in the other machine I use from time to time

                                Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

My 3.5 years old monitor (BenQ SW2700pt) started to black out for 1-2 sec every minute or so, it was doing this even with PC disconnected from it. I searched online and read that it's probably aging capacitors and there's a workaround to lower the brightness.
