    Abit AB-ZM6

    Abit AB-ZM6

This boards can handle only celeron cpus (66,100) FSB
max as of final bios "SU" celeron 600, 2000-09-05
max RAM 256MB using 3 dimm slot.

    [History]
    Someone wanted to know this.
They were bought from a "DOT COM" bankruptcy around 2000-2001, 15-20 computers mostly abit boards, not totally sure of how many, a few were stolen.
The computers were used in the "LAB" mostly and doesn't contain very important data, people surf the net and other tasks.

Currently I got 3 boards from machines that died, there might be more on the way, for sure there is 1 more that is toast, and a few others that show sign's (buldging caps, etc)

Most of the buldging ones are near the atx power supply input, and the group or 3 shown in one of the pictures.

    Capacitor's above 1000uf

    (1) 6 - 1000uf 6.3V 8mm X 12mm Jackcon Green/Gold writing
    (2) 16 - 1000uf 10V 8mm X 15mm Jackcon Black/Gold writing
    (3) 2 - 1500uf 6.3V 8mm X 16mm Tayeh Green/Gold writing

    Location on board
    (1) EC5-8, EC19,EC21
    (2) EC1,2, EC11-18, EC20, EC22, EC23-25 and C32
    (3) EC3,4

    [Pictures]
sorry kinda low quality took them with a web cam.

Are these boards even worth replacing, 22 - 1000uf capacitors and 2 1500uf?

    Bill

Sidenote: I'll probably be getting more stuff, like lots of dead generic power supplies and two other boards that are probably not mentioned
    a shuttle spacewalker 591P, and gigabyte GA-7VAX REV 1.1.

It depends - is the chipset a 440BX, ZX or i815? I'd probably recap them all and put them back in service as file-servers or routers if they're 440BX.

Chipset is i440ZX - the same as BX except number of memory banks and PCI slots is limited. You should be able to have 512MB RAM by using two 16-chip 256MB modules.
IIRC, these boards are intented only for Mendocino Celeron CPUs. But they can be easily modified to work with Coppermine too (by adding one wire to the bottom of CPU socket) - so you can use Coppermine Celerons and even PIIIs with 100MHz FSB.
I'd fix em all and then sell

if nothing else they are good practice boards.call it cheap education/experience.you can then put the survivers back in service.

There's some great advice. I'd like to get a few boxes of DOA boards to hone my soldering skills.

billse, if you want cheap replacements then e-mail Jackcon about these bad Jackcon caps and then if Jackcon is nice, they will send you replacement caps. Topcat tried this, got his caps when he wasn't expecting in the mail, and used them. willawake has PM'd him about this a long time ago and he said a few caps that Jackcon sent him failed, and some didn't. Jackcon's e-mail address is jackcon@ms14.hinet.net

If you want quality replacements, one place you can buy caps in Canada is Digikey.

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L

                  Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

                  Problems writing MX25L25673G
                  by modtool
Hi to all, I'm facing a problem writing to an MX25L25673G SOIC-16 bios chip (part of an HP EliteOne 1000 G2 27") with a Willem programmer 5.0B (with software PCB98D12c4).
I know my programmer is old and I've planned to buy a new one but it worked until now with every eeprom I've faced in different devices, this is the first time that is giving me this kind of problem and I need to urgently solve it because I've already changed the fried southbridge and cleaned its ME fw, so I need to finish the last step of the repair.
This Willem supports some 256Mbit eeprom, I can choose between...

                  Abit BE6-II motherboard
                  by ziplock
                  Greetings,

I have an Abit BE6-II motherboard that posts sporadically with the bare minimum components installed - CPU, RAM, PSU, and a Keyboard. I know it posts when the speaker beeps. Re-seating the components has no effect.

I thought the sporadic posting might be capacitor related. Upon inspection, non of the caps are bulged or leaking and they are all original. So, I pulled them ALL. While the ESR is OK, over half of them are leaking current between 1 and 2 mA. The biggest offenders are way out of spec, like a 1500uf / 6.3V measuring 2600uF and many of the 820uF caps...
