    ASUS A320 Bios fix doubts

Hey everyone. I need to repair the BIOS of my Asus Prime A320m-k. I need you to correct me if my procedure is wrong.

    1) I downloaded the .CAP file from ASUS website and extracted the UEFI Image as BIN with UEFITOOL.

    2) Do I need to keep any data from the corrupted BIOS that is on my board? I´ve read about using WBT in order to keep DMI data (motherboard serial and other stuff)? And, if I 100% need to do it, I have tried WBT.exe by dragging the bin file to it, but it did nothing. What should I do in that case? Should I save and replace any specific part of the corrupted BIOS from UEFITOOLS and replace it in the working BIOS?

    Thank you very much!

Hi, you schould definitely transfer the MAC address of the network chip to the new BIOS image, the rest eg. serial, UUID, etc. I would say you can omit, except you want to register the board on the ASUS site. MAC is necessary to have the network working properly, w/o the MAC you will have an generic, non-unique mac (eg FF FF FF FF FF FF) may get lags and unstable network, but not necessarilly. Don't know how to do it on AMD boards, on intel boards you can do it with CoffeTime or a tool only for ASUS boards called FD44. However you can try to find the MAC location in the corrupt image by taking the mac address from a sticker on the board, if exist, and seaching for it with a hex editor in the image, and then place it in the raw Bios image at the same location. If you don't find the mac in the corrupt image it's getting difficult, you need either to organize a "personalized" bios image from another good board, or you need to have a software tool that can do it. Again for ASUS Intel board there is a tool called FD44, but this probably does not work for AMD. ASUS *.cap images are encapsulated, so you first need to extract the bin from the *.cap with UEFITOOL to do anything. CoffeTime can also do this, just open *.cap and save it as *.bin or use the ASUS rename tool usually provided with the *.cap image. CoffeTime and FD44 might not work with newer board generations, then only hex editor can help or some other tools for AMD boards, if exist. I think you can also use UEFITOOL to find the mac location, then it's the best to export the whole module in which the mac address is located (Action ... File ... Extract as is ...) and patch (Action ... File ... Replace ...) the raw bios with this module. Use here the old UEFITOOL generation, as the new one can't export/import/replace yet.

Thank you so much. I was aware of the MAC, too, but didn´t know where to find it. I´ll keep my research and try to keep it. Thank you very much!
