    hp f2105 inverter

I picked up a free hp f2105 lcd today. Its doing the thing where the back light will come on for only 2 or so sec. works fine otherwise and is in nice shape. It was already apart when i got it so that saved me some hassle. The first thing I did was do some research(ie googling) and found a post about unplugging a gray wire from the main inverter connector. And it actually fixed it until I put it all back together haha. So now I am after the cause of the issue. I have located replacement inverter boards but i don't really have the money to spend on one right now and would rather fix it myself. The caps are elite brand and seem fine but i do not have the equipment to test them. Where should i start troubleshooting. Or should I just pony up the ~$50 for the replacement board and save the hassle?

Welcome to the forums. I have one of these monitors (revived from the dead) and I think it's great. This was one of my early projects with the same symptoms that you described and I jumped in and replaced the caps because they were a crap brand even though there were no signs of bulging as you described. After re-capping, the symptoms were the same so I checked the bulbs. Indeed, I had a single bulb dead which was shutting down the circuit. I replaced the bulbs with similar ones and changed the connectors and it works perfectly. Long story short...check the bulbs. By the way, which wire did you disconnect...I can't tell from the picture.

I removed the gray wire that goes from the psu to the inverter board to make it work until it was re assembled.

Is there any way to test the bulbs to find out wich is bad or is it better to just replace all of them? Do you have a source where i can find replacements?

Use a case CCFL/Neon case mod kit.

Now iv'e done it I let out some magic smoke :X I was messing with this thing and actually got it to work and stay on for a bit by not tightening the screws that hold the inverter board down. I guess this means there is a bad solder joint? Well I put it all together and was using it for a bit when it went POP! sizzle.... I tore it back down and found a burn mark on one of the ccfl connectors the middle one on the top is black and melted a bit now. What does this mean is bad?

It sounds like you have a short. Tightening the screw would ground the board. Is the burn mark at the connector or on the bulb end? I had a bad solder on the wire at the tube itself which was arcing. Someone like Plainbill is really good at walking you through the circuit. This is not my strong suit.

New wire for my RDE3340 Whirlpool electric range
                by wnlewis
OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

                Where may I find parts...

Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK, 80U00002US battery cable wire broken.

We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...

Vintage fan repair, copper wire question
                by technicalspecialist
I currently have a customer's vintage fan on the work bench to repair.
It uses an induction motor with 4 poles. One of the poles is open.
I couldn't find the break so i cut off the original wire.
I have measured the other poles and the resistance is about 28 ohms per pole and I measured the diameter of the wire with my digital calipers and it is 0.35mm in diameter.

I need to work out how much 0.35mm diameter enamelled copper wire i need to order for it to be 28 ohms. I have used this calculator and it says i need 160.35 metres.

                The enamelled copper...

I have a tripp-lite aspint 3636vr inverter charger which blow some of mosfet transistors. I replaced them repaired also the driver circuit and tested but the mosfets burn again.

It work very well as inverter and also as charger if I let the rear switch in auto mode (inverter) and charger only(charging) but in auto when I connect the feed line 220V AC first time it pass ok to line and start charging the batteries but when I remove the feed line it pass to inverter mode and if I do it again the second time when passing from charging to inverter the Main transformer start making a...

Insignia NS-LCD19-09 (PS OK, Inverter problem?)
                by valvashon
For some reason I'm just not going to let this 19" TV defeat me. I guess because I have a schematic to work from I feel like I'm oh so close.

History- while adding a turn-on circuit I let a small screw roll under the power board. Worked through all of that circuitry, probably replacing a MOSFET and PWM controller that were not bad but I was following the service manual. Finally figured out that the power supply is in working order when the inverter section (for the backlights) is disconnected. When the +12 supply to the inverter is disconnected the +12 and +5 will come up...
