    Hanns-g HL248

Hi guys, have a HL248 that was going black or I'm thinking scramble lines sometimes. Sometimes it would work fine but seemed like code on a page would make it fail. Other times straight to black. It's been in storage a while and pulled the boards before trying again so going off memory.
I've heard of a successful fix on this monitor just replacing the caps. My problem is I'm trying to figure out the best caps to put in it that will fit. None of mine look bad. Has anyone had similar problems and fixed one of these yet?

The board with a single cap has a low impedance FOAI FZD 47uf 63v.
    Data sheet www.chinafoai.com/ep24.htm

Easy enough and looks like digikey has panasonic FC or nichicon UPW that would work. Which would you recommend?

    The other board has 3x FOAI CD11XH 220uf 16v and 3x FOAI CD11XH 100uf 16v.
    Data sheet https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...87cf6f3f17.pdf

Now this one has a height restriction of 9mm but up to 10.5mm may be able to fit with some finessing.

The only options I'm seeing are URZ and ML for the 220uf and GA, URZ and UTT caps for the 100uf. Which would you recommend?

most of the time I use Panasonic, Nichicon or Rubycon. Never had any trouble with these brands. Nothing had come back that I've repaired using these brands.

How about on the smaller ones where only UTT and ML for the 220uf and ML, URZ ,MH7 and UTT caps for the 100uf are available? These are the ones I've not used. I also notice 1-4 impedance available with the UTT being 4 and others not showing.

Can you please mark the location of those caps?

The 220uf are the 8mm diameter and have the tri score top and the 100uf are the 6.5mm. I can mark them and upload a pic of the back side of the board if it helps. It has pin out markings also so good for getting a documented fix if it works.

Why not just install the caps leaning on their sides then. That should allow you to use just about any low-ESR cap, possibly up to 8 mm diameter (since you have 9 mm of height of the old cap).

Between Panasonic FC and Nichicon PW... I have no preference really. Both are excellent and I've never had failure from either.

                Re: Hanns-g HL248

The board with the dvi/vga gets clam shelled in a metal cover.

The FC/PW is only available for the 1 cap that is on it's side. The other 6 I'm unfamiliar with the series available. The impedance seems like it might be important also.

On the plus side I have a new camera DVR with known crap caps that I want to replace also. Just have to figure out what series of the brand they are. Feel better about paying more in shipping than the order cost if I can kill 2 birds with one stone.

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
                  by ttmi100x
                  Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

                  Upon closer inspection...

NAD C320BEE repair possibly bad capacitors
                  by Alfieh
hey Im very new to repairing electronics with capacitors as well as using a multimeter so I need so help/guidance fixing this issue

recently I was handed a family members old NAD C320BEE that they had in their loft for storage for a few years but when powered on it went into power safety mode due to a problem on the protection circuit somewhere before it went into storage I was told it worked fine I found lots of people online talking about how the capasitors are known to be pretty bad in this model and can cause this issue the only problem being I don't have much experience sorting...

desoldered capacitor is self charging until 0.6 voltage.
                  by chth96
I have an 21 inch CRT TV which is not able to power on.
I disassembled 21 inch CRT TV and measured voltage of main filter capacitor(Samhwa HC 400WV 220uF) in the circuit.
It shows 270V on my DMM.

So I discharged this main filter capactior completely and detached circuit board from cathode-ray tube.
Then I desoldered this main filter capacitor from circuit board.
But I noticed that this desoldered large capacitor(Samhwa HC 400WV 220uF) is slowly charged by itself until it reached 0.6V

I measured its ESR value with MESR-100 and it shows 0.1 ohm,judging...

Onkyo TX-SR607 HDMI problem showing a black screen intermittently

Onkyo TX-SR607 HDMI problem showing a black screen intermittently, audio was OK.
It would usually cut out a few minutes after power on, for maybe 1 minute then work OK, then cut out and go to black again. Or fade out to sparkles and noisy video.

Well known is these boards need recapping and there is a strange mix of parts on both sides of the board.

                  The bottom of the board has 100uF 4V (5.3*5.3mm, qty 5) and 220uF 4V (6.6*6.6mm, qty 5).
Per the service bulletin, an issue is the Toshiba LDO's want low ESR for stability so I went with 100uF 6.3V polymer...

                  3COM OfficeConnect Gigabit Switch 16 (3C1671600)

The switch has served me for 10+ years (was new when I bought it). It's a nice switch with connections on the back which makes for quite a clean desk. Reason for taking it apart was that the cooling fan was noisy so I expected it to be dirty/dusty inside and the need to order a new fan. What I found was that it was very dirty/dusty and some electrolytic capacitors which needs attention. There are 3 capacitors which needs to be replaced but the ESR on some of the other ones might be bad as well so I think I'll replace them all. Original...
