Old HP 1720 LCD, no backlight

I have aqquired an old HP1720 LCD monitor, with no backlight.
    It's this one: HP1720 LINK

with a torch/flashlight I can just make out 1 inch wide vertical stripes, probably coloured.

It seems to be all ACER inside!

Is this worth persuing a repair for?
