CCFL's, Inverter, & MAG LT716S700P

    CCFL's, Inverter, & MAG LT716S700P

    I have just ordered Caps for my 17" MAG LT716S 700P, and I am waiting on their arrival.

    My Mag seems to have more of a Thermal problem, as it runs fine for ~1 hour,
    then goes to a BLACK Screen. A small fan placed at the lower back of the
    unit keeps it running all day. I've removed the Power Supply, looked it over
    with my Magnifying Glass for cold solder joints, looked at all the Caps
    (all appear good). Then I resoldered all the connections for the Transformers
    and anything else that looked suspect, or a cold joint. Time will tell........
    I may add an internal fan to help with the cooling....

    I also found a few photos that would be of help to folks new to CCFL's,
    Inverters, and LCD Monitor Internal hardware. I wish I had stumbled across
    them before my journey began.

    I have attached the photos for others to view, in hopes they help.

    What caps are in there and what are you gonna use for replacement?

      The Caps are the typical Xunda for the Mirage Electronics 200-000-170DTL1
      PowerSupply/Inverter as posted on the other MAG 17" and 19" postings.

      I ordered the correct ones from Digikey as per the other postings.

        I just wanted confirmation. I've seen this heat problem on 900P units, and after the re cap (Panasonic FC or FM) the problem was (in my case) gone. Maybe you will be in the same situation.

          My mailman brought me the Caps from Digikey today. I replaced them
          one at a time, and double checked my work when done with my Magnifier
          Glass. Of the caps I removed most checked good out of the circuit,
          but a 47MFD and the two 100MFD's didn't show anything on my Fluke or my
          Cap Checker. It was a little over 83 here today. (I replaced EVERY
          Xunda Cap that was on the Power/Inverter board, and it was less than
          $15.00 with Priority shipping)

          I powered the unit up at 14:30. It is now 16:30, and the Monitor has run
          one hour longer than it ever has, without going to a BLACK screen, without
          an external fan blowing air at the back of the unit.

          It looks as if the unit is repaired, but only more power on time will prove it.

          I wish I could get my hands on a Schematic for the MAG LT716S (17") or
          the 916 (19"). If anyone has one I would appreciate a copy.

            Good News! It is 21:45 and my MAG LT716S 700P is still working. I consider this
            thing fixed. Here are the steps I used to fix the LCD Monitor.

            1. Re-Solder both Transformers.
            2. Re-Solder any joint that looked cold under a Magnify Glass.
            3. Replace the following caps:
            2 - 10MFD 50V C3, C25 5mmx8mm P10316-ND
            2 - 100MFD 35V C10, C11 8mmx11.5mm P10294-ND
            6 - 470MFD 25V 10mmx16mm P10275-ND
            1 - 220MFD 25V 8mmx12mm P10271-ND
            1 - 47MFD 50V 6mmx11mm P10321-ND
            1 - 100MFD 450V 17mmx32mm P14100-ND

            Less than $15.00 with shipping.

              Told you about the heat problem. Heat was the main cause the crappy caps in there failed. Then, heat made the damaged/degraded caps make the unit fail. New caps = problem gone.
