    RCA LED65G55R120Q Power issue

Well picked up this RCA LED65G55R120Q 65 inch off Craigslist that had a supposed power supply issue. The person said it would not power on and he needed to get rid of it because he was moving and did not have time to fix it. He had two spare power supply boards. Well I installed the spare board and still no power up, and no standby light. So I went and checked voltages.

    120v at the input

Checked for 5v going out to main board and that was present.

Looking at the main board I noticed the chip was damaged. So I believe this would be a main board issue since I have 5v going out from power supply?

The pic is of the main board

Looks it is HDMI related IC. So my assumption is that lightning killed it through one of the HDMI ports.

Oops looks like I posted this in the wrong section, sorry.

All I know is the person I bought it from said it used to work but it just stopped powering on one day and he went and ordered a power supply thinking that was the issue. He never got around to installing it and the power supply was still in plastic wrap. I installed it and still no power up or standby light. So checking voltages it had 5v going out to the main board so I looked more closely at that board and noticed that chip. Also when I went to pick up the set I didn't notice that he forgot to add the power and volume control keyboard so it is missing it. I don't think that would cause it not to power on since I have the remote.

It's defintelly this board that is the problem, something more, i can't tell, but this one you should replace, or try to fix it yourself.

+1. so beside blown HDMI IC, some other sections of the main board may be damaged also.
          Time for new main board.

Oh and does anyone by chance know the service menu code? I was wondering if there is a setting for the black light. The one posted in the manual above does not seem to work.

                Thank you

There should be Backlights level setting on the on screen user menu.

Ok i found the service menu code over in the following thread here.

                      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...nu+code&page=3

There are a few different codes but the on that worked for me is

                      with tv on press
                      menu
                      1 1 4 7

                      Thank you

Hi all, I know this is a very old thread-I just happened on it doing a search for some help with this same RCA set. Like the previous poster, my set will flash once every 3-5 seconds with only lines across the screen. Will not power on. I've confirmed 120v at the power board, only reading 3-3.5v going out of it. I read in Mr. Martin's troubleshooting guide I should have 5v standby, etc. With a reading of 3-3.5 do you blame a faulty power board?
